Tomahawk/Hatchet Project

Post by astronomy.domaine » Sun Dec 07, 2014 12:26 am

Hi IFGians,
Posting after a long gap. Hope you are all doing great.
Have been working on a hatchet for a few days now and here is the "rough draft". Plan to add some more file work and general cosmetics in the coming days.
Please share your comments/suggestions.

cheers

A very nice project.
However, I have a question; wont the serrations at the top of the blade hang up if this is ever used to chop wood?

Thanks guys..!

@Rahul- unfortunately these were the 1st pics I clicked. The axe head is a small 1/2kg piece of forged iron from a local smith. The woodwork is hard shisham. I used a power grinder and needle file for both wood and metal and hand finished with 400 grit paper.

@ xl_target - Agreed, however, the serrations being perpendicular to the cutting edge may not have any major impact on functionality. anyway they're totally cosmetic. : )
