Gun License for NRI

Post by vintage1983 » Wed Oct 22, 2014 11:03 am

I have some 3 rifles and a gun in the family inherited from my grandfather. None of which were given to me and I was told that I can't hold a license because I'm not an Indian Citizen. Is there a law like that? Can a Green Card Holder or an NRI get a license on their name? Or can I even get these guns to US? I am happy just getting the rifles on my name even if they stay in India.

As a NRI you can get an arms license in India. There after the weapons can be transferred to your name. It is not necessary that you have to be a citizen. This topic has been discussed before.
