i think my recent questions got overlooked because of the flood of posts on the thread . so here goes.(again):
dear schutzen and mehul you both have been very kind. thanks for the answers.
before i ask more questions, i just want to warn mehul, i WILL take you up on that offer. as u might have noticed in my other posts, in my response to vikram, i have mentioned the same thing.
in fact since i was planning to visit us of a in jul, it was i who requested mundaire to call you . ( same missed call that you have referred to in post farewell mundaire.)
next, the way things look right now, ill be in uk for atleast 5 more years.
and yes i am fond of hunting and that is why i want to practice shooting.
i agree with the stance thing; in fact i dont even rest my elbow while shooting an airgun, lest i get used to it. and i also try to shoot standing uo without support.
schutzen thanks for your patience.
i think your replies were better than most sites.
also as i have mentioned in other posts,
i want all the answers to be present as a thread in one place so that other newcomers like me dont have to ask several people and visit different websites( plz see my other thresd introductions>> welcome dev vrat).
im sure this thread will prove helpful to other newcomers. thanks
what are the recommended/ allowed calibres in these competitions.
what are good, affordable/ available -both in india and abroad- rifles in each of these categories?
plz answer keeping in mind these answers are aimed at beginners/ newcomers/ first time buyers.
are scopes allowed? (silly question)
plz recommend some scopes. (see rifles question.)
mehul allthese questions are directed at you too (plus all the other ifg members)and please tell me some more about the practical diff. between hunting and competition shooting
thanks

Re: Nana Patekar now a 'Renowned Shot'
Okay ! can the Gentleman who deleted that post pl. let me know why? The only percieved 2 points had already been edited by penpusher and I saw the post after he edited it. I feel that post was pretty well written and a pointer in the right direction to Shooter what was SO objectionable in that post that u had to delete the entire post? It takes time to write good posts with proper info. and this kind of thing is not on. I spent fair amount of time on that if u can put it back online I would appriciate it -the other memebers can also see it and give their opinion about it - If you think you run this board to promote shooting and spread info about it then why do you delet posts denying other members the benifit ? this kind of whimsical censorship only goes on here -other wise if u dont want me to post here that too is fine by me .penpusher";p="22208 wrote:Magic However, I am not the magician.BTW mate wheres the post u were refering to its disappeared into thin air

Could you please tell us which post was that and what was the content? There is no whimsical censorsip here except of material in contravention of the forum's rules. You spend your valuable time in sharing "your" knowledge of the sport. Thanks for that. Now, the moderators have their lives too apart from IFG. On your part you can help us by not flouting the rules of this board. And please spare us this displays of your displeasure that anyone here is against you posting. There are more interesting and pleasant things in life than spend valuable time on going after your posts.Friendly and pleasant environment gentlemen.Easy come easy go.Have fun

HI! vikram u can ask penpusher about the post he read it. I appriciate your time u spend for this forum. I am also contributing my experience and time. Only a moderator could have deleted the post so the ball is in your court and there was nothing as objectionable in the post that it had to be deleted. In fact I think penpusher just removed 2 sentences and then someone deleted it. Most of it was regarding the elbow placement and hunting thingy for shooter

Shutzen,
Don't know who deleted your post, though I am pretty sure I did read it.
It's quite possible that the mod deleted the post because he was pressed for time and couldn't go through the entire thing looking for more objectionable stuff. Entire topics have met the same fate for similar reasons, though I don't recall seeing that done on this forum...yet.
Since we have already digressed way off topic on this thread, I may as well use this post to give an indication of how internet forums usually work.
As a friend on another forum is fond of saying, forums are like pubs. It's okay for one of the regulars to walk in and say something not so pleasant but woe betide the newbie who does the same.
Unfortunately for you, you haven't quite struck the right notes so you shouldn't be surprised if there is a general feeling of animosity against you from atleast some of the older members.
That's the way it is and if you still don't like it, I am sure you know the way out. Alternatively, since you are from Delhi, why not make it to the IFG get together planned for sometime in July. Perhaps that should sort things out a bit.

HI! Rustom since u read it I am sure you know what it was about and HOW "objectionable" it was. Now all I am asking is for the gentleman who deleted it should at least offer an exp. as to why he deleted a perfectly good post. If he did'nt have enough time to read it then he should not have deleted a good post without asserting that it did indeed require deletion. I mean that is no excuse to do your part as a mod. I think you guyz need to do some investigating ala pink panther inspector Clouseau style as to who did it and why he simply cant explain his action

Well buddy I frequent and post at many forums and I have not seen any such thing happen

AFAIK thats with only one "older member" and we all know who it is
That's the way it is and if you still don't like it, I am sure you know the way out.
Sure thats not a problem - I only frequent this forum bcoz its abt India etc etc but since I have shot for 4 years at national level without even registering or visiting I'm sure when I decide to leave I will not miss it much

a) The system does not maintain a record of which mod did what editing/ deleting.I think you guyz need to do some investigating ala pink panther inspector Clouseau style as to who did it and why he simply cant explain his action
b) Since all mods have full time day jobs and check in here in their free time - the gent in question may not even have seen your request for further information.
c) The simplest way to ensure your posts DO NOT get zapped again is to GET WITH THE PROGRAM and review what you are posting BEFORE you post it. Wading through posts to ensure that nothing objectionable is posted here is a dirty job and something that needlessly eats into everyone's time - you'll make everyone's life a lot easier by avoiding posting such content in the future.
Cheers!
Abhijeet

Re: Nana Patekar now a 'Renowned Shot'
Just guessing but it may have had to do with your posts on hunting. For all you know, Pink Panther may just have been trying to protect you from yourself. After all you did make a previous post on the subject which I edited. This site is being watched by at least one anti site that we know about.HI! Rustom since u read it I am sure you know what it was about and HOW "objectionable" it was.
Whilst I thought it was more carefully worded than the previous edited post I did not edit or delete it but Pink Panther may have thought differently. Mods don't have set guidelines to follow for everything. Sometimes they just have to use their own discretion.
Try the Airgun BBS for starters.Well buddy I frequent and post at many forums and I have not seen any such thing happen.
That one older member just so happens to be a founding member and a friend to many on this site.AFAIK thats with only one "older member" and we all know who it is
Whilst Mehul can be very irritable at times (there's a reason for this which most don't know about), he does have the board's respect. You on the other hand are an unknown quantity, especially since you insist on playing the cloak and dagger stuff about your identity.
The way things are going, the feeling may well be reciprocated.I'm sure when I decide to leave I will not miss it much.
