webley & Scott mark 2 air rifles England made. help needed.

Post by amair » Fri Oct 17, 2014 6:02 pm

Hello Everyone,
I need help regarding buying a used imported Air Rifle.
It's a used Webley & SCOTT Mark II, MADE IN ENGLAND, 0.22 Air Rifle, Under Lever. Even though it's old but in excellent condition. What price should I buy it for.
I have a few Air Rifles namely two 0.177 daina, one 0.177 bsa, one national, and a Precihole nx100 Scorpious.
I repair and maintain my guns my self, it's kind of a hobby. Actually a distant relative of mine has the Webley Air Rifle. He has given it to me for maintenance. I asked him to sell it to me. What price should I get it for. He shouldn't feel cheated.
Please help. Thank You.

Amair. I googled your query and found this: http://www.tennants.co.uk/Catalogue/Lots/57643.aspx

It's selling at the above mentioned site is sterling £200-300. That would be Rs 19795.67 - 29693.50 respectively per today's rate for sterling pounds to Indian Rupees.

As per the DGFT notification import of .22 air rifles is restricted. Only .177 is allowed to members of NRAI or any of its state or district affiliated clubs.

Farook. These restrictions in India sort of remind me of that scene in Mel Brook's History of the World 1 "LETS FACE IT GUYS, YOU CAN'T TAKAMATA ANYTHING"! LOL

LOL - but it's "Torquemada"

Does anyone know the exact law that prohibits import of 0.22 air rifles. My own experience is over 20 years ago - but I brought a 0.22 Weihrauch with me as part of transfer of residence to India. I was charged 100% duty.
