Hi Moilendu,
That was some pretty neat shooting. Looking forward to the Rajnikanth challenge.
Btw, how about a video, trying to hit half hammered nails on the head and driving them further into a board?[/quote]

Hi Moulindu,

Hi
Basu wrote:I wonder wheather or not 1st and 2nd shot very faintly touched the knife and then got embedded
Basuda 1st & 3rd shot did hit the knife's edge & split in 2 halves(not perfect split though :( ), but the second shot was a complete miss :( .The movie was low budget so had to content shooting with smart phone.
bennedose wrote:Moulindu let me give you an idea for another target that can look nice on a video. Light three candles (or more) and line them up and try and shoot out the flame. (I have tried this at shorter ranges). You have to hit exactly the tip of the wick. If you shoot higher nothing happens, and if too low the candle gets smashed.
Excellent idea Benne, I will definitely try this......Any suggestions what should be the size of candles to be used? As I am guessing the smaller candles will blow off even when the pellet passes by because of their small wick & for bigger candles...... :?

Thanks Brihaji. Tried kshitij idea but it nose dropped. Hit 4 pellets on the head of the half hammered nail but on measuring found it didnt moved even a mm
I guess TX is not powerful enough to hammer a nail, the grains of the wood is dense enough for any movement of the nail. With plywood can be possible, but i have got different ideas up my sleeve....just wait & watch.

Moulindu I tried candles that were about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick. In general I found that the pellets pass by so fast that the flame does not go out unless you hit the wick. Most often I was blowing off the entire top of the candle   , or simply making the flame dance a bit.

Only when I managed to hit the string/wick perfectly did the candle go out, leaving an intact standing candle.

Anyhow Diwali is coming and I will try and do a betterjob of exploding targets if possible - and as usual take 10 shots to hit once. Then I will video that one hit and pretend that i got it first shot !! ROTFL

Hi Benne
Tried to perform this shooting using the small candles (didnt measure the dimensions  ). But as guessed the smaller wick does get blown off with the gust of wind from the pellet. I am telling this as afterwards i shot couple of times nearby the wick & got similar results. I guess the bigger candles will do the job satisfactorily.

Moulindu that is beautiful. In fact you have done more than I meant - I did not explain properly . I was saying something much easier - that is placing three candles side by side just like those three 0.22 pellets and then shoot them off one by one - but you have gone and really kicked ass by taking out more than one or all in one shot! Brilliant. This is even better.

Thanx Benne for the appreciation. Well as promised before got the Kshitij challenge completed. After success of the previous movies the producer did increase the budget for the this challenge, used 2 cameras at different positions & used editing software Corel Video Studio Pro X7 for the first time, which took me around 12hrs to edit the video  . Named this project "NAILED IT".

Have a great weekend guys

Hi
Have been thinking of making this video for a long time & finally been able to make it. Didnt have enough resource to capture the dramatic movement :( . Still made an effort to De'cap'itate the bottle cap :D .
