My new air rifle SDB - 65
Hi friends, iam suresh from Hyderabad, iam new to IFG, yesterday i bought SDB model 65, for 4500/- from target point, nampally, hyd... previously i used a heman mark-2 air pistol which is a very basic one... after using it for some time, i decided to bought a AR... i searched 5-6 shops... here in hyderabad, ARs are priced very highly... these people quoting IHP35 for 10.5k ... so, decided to start my shooting with a budget friendly AR....
so , went to target point, these guys are friendly, and patient... they showed nearly 10 models in my budget range... but among them this beast attracted me in the first look... it looks beautiful... so finally bought this.... it is heavy... clean... powerful, and gorgeous... here are my first impressions...
though this is budget air rifle, the quality seems to be good... (quality of stock, wood, finishing, power) this AR is heavy, around 4.5kg.. wood is of a good quality, and the finishing is very good.. i cant understand one thing about this SDB , trigger... is is made of some metal like ALUMINUM or ALLOY.. it is not brass, or iron... i don't know why it is like that... every air rifle in that shop have brass or iron trigger... except only this SDB... though is feels good, and trigger pull is very smooth.. and not heavy... these is no option to adjust the trigger through a screw..
i identified one major problem immediately when i shot 2-3 pellets... that its front sight is slightly bent to left... of course none of the sights are good(front, rear, and peep)... all 3 of these are have some minor errors... this is the only problem i found of this AR as of now... these are not worst, but not good..
recoil is awesome.. i feel the power in my hands... it is very powerful... like a 10 times powerful than my heman pistol... my friends have ihp, Tommy, marshal, GD sports under liver, i shot all of them.. this AR is definitely not very far from those.. i didn't got a chance to see its full potential yet... i aimed at a 2*2 feet metal plate from 80- 85 mtrs distance.. and i shot it very first time only.. iam not saying that this is a great accuracy, but it is capable of that range, i have to try its actual effective rage....
Total length of this SDB is 46 inches, length of barrel is 19 inches, weight is 4.5 kg.. rifling is 1:16, rifling grooves are deep enough to stabilize pellet, bluing is nice, wooden stock feels great, totally the rifle feels very solid in hands, except those sights.... that's it friends, will post some more pics and soon will come up with every detail when i put it to some tests.. thanks..

Hi Sureshbabu,
> Congrats on your acquiring a new SDB 65
> You have mentioned that > i aimed at a 2*2 feet metal plate from 80- 85 mtrs distance.. and i shot it very first time only.. iam not saying that this is a great accuracy, but it is capable of that range, i have to try its actual effective rage....
> Are you sure the distance you mention is 80 / 85 mtrs? This translates into almost 230ft!!!! which is an incredible distance for an air rifle!!! Just wanted to know for sure....
> What caliber is it - 0.22?
> In case you want to know more about SDB65 - you may contact fellow IFGian "Basu" located in Kolkata where the SDBs are made. He has considerable experience with SDBs - he also owns one....

thank u brihacharan, and yes, the distance i mentioned is 80-85 mtrs... iam pretty sure about that distance.. definitely not less than 75 mtrs.. and remember that i aimed at 2*2 feet metal plate which is a very big target... iam not saying about its accuracy, actually i wanted to tell about its power and range, pellet traveled that long, don't know what will be the penetration power at that distance... cant find any marks or dents on that metal plate... BTW i don't like my SDB's sights.. they are horrible...
some more pics...

Dear msuresh,
I am a proud owner of of SDB 45.
But yours is SDB65.
This company makes many models to suit buyers pocket as well as liking.
I hope the hood of the foresight got loosened due to vibration which may pl be tightened maximum.
I did not like the back sight also. You will have no problem with windage but surely with elevation because the elevation screw will tend to leave its position if not adequately tight.
The exposed part of the trigger is made of aluminium but inside it is hardened steel.
This gun shuld be quite accurate fr very first shot.

Try different brands round head pellets and conclude with a better one and try to buy the same batch in good quantity and enjoy...
Sometimes if you want to get rid of the gun, you have to pick the gun up.

Re: My new air rifle SDB - 65
I have a 20 year old SDB 50. It's a good, dependable rifle and I have opened up and modified every single part of the rifle. You need to find exactly which pellet is best for your rifle. After that it will be pure joy. 85 meters is not surprising. Even at 150 meters per sec muzzle velocity - 85 meters will be covered in about 1 second of flight accounting for air resistance. Even throwing a stone up in the air will keep the stone up for more than one second. An air rifle pellet shot in the air will stay up several seconds and probably fall 200 meters or more away. Only thing is, at 85 meters the power will not be great. You need to check if you can burst a balloon at 85 meters.
Thanks for all the photos. They really help us share your joy.

I am very new to this forum and this is my first post. I am very much interested in buying an SDB 45 or SDB 65 AR based on your suggestion. I intend to use the AR mostly for paper target practice as i am quite fascinated by this sport. Also it will be a huge favor of you if you can kindly provide the information about the buying of SDB AR and their price in kolkata. I have searched a lot online but did not get any information about where to buy the SDB AR.
Thanking you in advance
hoping for your kind reply
