Remember to add a 0.5mm washer at the rear end of the guide - will help in minimizing friction / vibration due to spring rotation when the AR is fired...
A good coat of 'moly' will add to a smooth performance....

Som = are you serious in asking this query
One thing for sure you cant hand hone the receiver with this attachment...
You need a hand drill to get a uniform honing....
Get a wooden / metal shaft & attach the 'honer' to it = fix the other end to the chuck of the drill...the video shows the rest....
Remember not to over hone the receiver to make its internal too smooth = if done so the internal surface may not retain the lube within it...
I think you should go in for this Honing Gadget

Absolutely. A rotary power tool is necessary.

Micro groove finish is the target. I'm yet to use this as i got it today only. Have to do the stem work soon.

This can really come handy for any DIYist. Will cost around 2k tops.

Managed to finish this spring compressor today. Glad it came out good just as planned. The companding op is accomplished by the extendable rear section of the bench vise, which gives some 4" travel, more than enough for the task.

So, finally got around to finish up the DMR project by fitting & zeroing the scope after a few hundred shots through the gun.

This is the work that happened on it. A few more pics leading up to these are already posted above in the thread. The ones below were taken at various stages of the build.

Welded a stalk onto the flex-hone bit for drill attachment. The piece is cut from an old mini drafter lying around.


Interior of the receiver before honing was in the worst shape, with deep cuts mostly outside the compression chamber. Pic does not show the much much smoother inner surface of comp area. I got enough cross hatches to keep the moly in place. JM moly paste & tar were used for lubing & fevifit is the thread locker involved in ALL the screws. Glue used is Araldite clear. So far no creeps after a few hundred shots.


Uncut Gsmith 35 spring with custom top hat, fully moly coated. The fit is snug.


Custom spring guide plus SS washer at the rear to reduce spring stresses. Again, fully moly coated.


Redbull can cut to make piston sleeve.


Piston sleeve inserted & glued in place. Bottom end of the sleeve is held tightly in the piston by tophat. A slot is cut around the piston skirt for thrust bearing.


Thrust bearing fixed & glued into the slot. The strip is .5mm thick & ~1" long. It's the neck seal of a Kinley bottle. Fully moly lubed.


A Diana washer fixed with a custom adapter made from the stock IHP adapter. Btw, the gun is 6yrs old & had a red synthetic washer from factory.


A custom bipod fixed onto the thicker section of the stock. A normal chinese bipod was cut in half for the same & each piece fixed precisely onto either side of the stock; glued & thread locked. There is no wobbling & cracks yet, feels solid. So my break-barrel air rifle now has a usable non-clumsy bipod. Yeyy!


From below. There's space for cocking & nothing comes in the way. I haven't shot the gun much from bipod so far, but it made a coin sized group the last time it was tried. The bipod is more like a gun rest, now that laying the rifle anywhere on its side is not an option due to the scope. The receiver is bedded with oil soaked cotton cloth at contact points. Trigger is polished & fully moly coated. Scope & trigger needed some extra work on them to align properly due to slight misses here & there.


This is the grouping with MS wadcutters @~12mtrs from a shaky foam rest. The circles are of 1Re coin size. The 3rd pic with red borders is the final output with 10 shots through it, at full 9x zoom which made it easier. The whole gun is still a bit too heavy for a comfortable free hand shooting but doable enough for short stints. Scope rail is a DX sourced steel 11mm strip spot welded onto the tube, which is holding well. The one piece mount is screwed plus glued on with scope stop pin inserted. So far, no scope creeps.


So this is my baby, the Custom IHP35 DMR. : )




Cocking is smooth & shoots with a solid thwack. The birdcage flash hider is a real steel unit from DX. A small 20mm rail is fixed on the stock for that future tacticool gear. The barrel is spray painted in matte black & is actively keeping away rust. The stud type sling mounts are adapted for a 3-point rifle sling. The raised cheekrest is mostly shaved off to give it a proper gun look. I hate that piece sticking out.

Absolutely stunning work bro. Liked the latest addition of rail & studs for slings. You could have opted for a stud used for shotguns (1 for barrel & other for butt) available in aliexpress & dx. But none the less superb work.

Thanks bro! I like the three point slings more so i went for this arrangement. Also, i did not want anything fixed on the barrel that might come in the way of cocking & bipod legs. Also, the front area is much cleaner this way.
