If a pistol were to have a heavier guide rod would it help to tame down the recoil. Could members elaborate on this topic please....

Yes, although the effect will not be substantial. Google Free Recoil and you can find a formula that specifically will show the impact of more / less mass on recoil.

I think these guys are kidding you. Anyone that thinks a heavy duty guide rod means a heavier rod Is wrong. It means more ware resistant and stronger . Not more weight. If you want more control change the recoil springs.
