Just picked up a "new" custom rifle

Post by mehulkamdar » Sat Jun 16, 2007 11:47 am

She is a slim girl, 6 3/4 lbs with a 23" barrel in 30-06 and was born in Germany before undergoing a radical makeover in Pennsylvania after migrating to the USA. Like any attractive woman, she could lash out and kick hard if not treated properly. I hope to work with Mark later on and brew up some loads for her - botht he 220 grainers that she was designed for and some lighter ones that would be less strenuous on my shoulder and that of anyone else who shotos her.

Will post pics soon - it is late at night and I need to get some sleep.

Cheers!

Gentlemen,

My apologies for the delay - here are some tentative pictures. The action is particularly nice but my camera doesn;t have zoom and the action detail is blurred. WIll be buying a better camera in the next two weeks and will post better pics, but, until then, here are a few:

She is a beauty. Looks like an M98. Did she start off as a sporter or was converted later from a milsup.

That looks like a beauty, I wonder if Mehul will let us fondle her and maybe even shoot a few thru her ;)

Mehul, Inder, Amit, I will be in the Chicago area this weekend. Maybe we can go shooting, let me know so I know to bring the stuff along.

Beautiful looking rifle Mehul.Congrats.The wood looks nice.I notice that there are no iron sights. You are going to mount a scope on it? No,the emoticon is not about the rifle. It's you. :)

Herb,

She is built on a 1908 Spandau action, a military one but with a new bolt handle with a tear drop shaped knob, a 1909 Argentine floorplate and Weaver bases though these could be changed if I want to replace them.

Inder,

Of course, you're going to shoot the rifle - dare I reveal a little secret agreement that is known only to you, me and Amit?

Sharief,

This weekend I shall be doing my club service on Sunday at Naperville. I won't be able to shoot with you guys but shall be at the club from 11:00 am onwards right through the day. Yes, please do come - Inder should be free, I am sure, and unless Amit has other plans he could join us with his dad after the morning service at his church. You have my numbers - please call me in the evening whenever you are free and we could discuss this.

Vikram,

Yes, this is in preparation for growing older - the old dog needs time to learn new tricks thing. The rifle was built only for a scope. Yes, the wood is really nice for the price that I paid and, overall, I am very satisfied with it. In any case, the dealer that I bought the rifle from is in upstate New York and if anyone wants to buy a gun in that part of the USA, I would gladly refer them to him.

Cheers!
