Transformation from Airsoft to Air rifle

I always had this fascination towards guns and especially revolvers and pistols. And I knew that I cant get one until I get my licence which is a very long process with patience.

And then I found a way to fulfill my desire. That is airsoft ( imitation guns) and started exploring them. I have acquired two airsoft guns till date. Dan wesson and Beretta M92F. I have experimented different power sources with them. ( CO2, 134A gas, 22R gas and 154).

Both are super models and I am satisfied to the core. I never had any fascination towards rifles and infact I used to hate them for their looks and size.

Following the threads regularly, made me to think about the ARs. I started checking them in the stores when ever I pass by in bangalore roads.

Slowly I started attracted towards the shape and the size too after holding them and feeling them. Then I thought I will try a basic AR available in Indian market.

This made me to follow more threads on IFG. But dangerous Briha posts are so influential that I ended up in buying one good AR. Fortunately, AR delivery and my KSRA membership confirmation happened on the same day.

I dint know how to handle or cock the AR till then. That weekend I went to finish my joining formalities in KSRA and waited for the instructor to give me some tips to handle the ARs. To my surprise, even KSRA has the same AR as mine ( ofcourse .177). In the excitement, I have shot 50 shots in some 20 or 30 mins leaving a sour left hand.

Then I came to the conclusion that spring ARs will have more cocking effort. The next day I slowed down a bit and I took almost an hour or so to shoot 50 pellets in KSRA.

And this time, my grouping had good consistency too. ( I believe in consistent shooting rather than hitting the bulls eye).

The same day, I decided that its time to use my own AR at home. I shot 10 pellets with my AR ( NX100 scorpious Karbin) and I found it very hard in cocking.

I remember Briha's message that first 200 shots would it take to ease the cocking effort:-)

Altogether a transformation from airsoft to airgun is an awesome experience. Now I love both AR and airsoft. And I dint stop plinking with my M92F airsoft pistol before leaving for work:-)

I just want to point out that if you have bought a gas ram/Scorpius your cocking effort will never decrease or change. That happens only for springers.

I have shot some 130 pellets with my scoripious and I can feel the difference in the cocking effort.

I have used 15gr precipellets ( .22lbr), they are very tight while inserting and accuracy is good.

I have been using only used cans and pet bottles as targets and I missed some 10 to 15 times out of 130 shots @ 20 to 25 mts range.

Day by day I am loving it.

The difference in cocking effort in a gasram rifle may be due to the smoothening out of the contact parts / manufacturing Burrs left inside the clinder.
Precipell .22 was very tight in my air rifle so much so that i was afraid of deforming it when inserting. I switched over to Mastershot Export quality dome heads and found that they fit better and also the grouping was much better than that of the precipell. You may like to try that out.
