Check the Classifieds here. There are often air rifles on sale. You could also think about importing one - ask members who have had success in importing air rifles and they would guide you.
Also, joining a rifle club would get you access to guns that members may put on sale from time to time.
Part of the fun in the game is looking for good guns - you find some really nice ones at good prices if you keep looking.
Cheers!

hi mehul
thanks for ur reply
since i am new to this thing, i know rifle clubs exist but dont have any names. thats why am looking for someone based in b'lore to help me out.
abt importing, yes, there are awesome guns out there like the sumatra 2500 and AF Condor, but i would have to sell of my bike to get one of those. And there's the very real chance that customs would sieze it.
Considering that its my first rifle, i would'nt mind the National. Didnt know abt it till i joined this forum. Am now researching it. Tech specifications, cost etc.
My ultimate dream is however a .58 Yukon from Barnes Pneumatic )

Question regarding IHP rifles
does anyone have any chronograph readings for the IHP .177/.22
Maybe just the muzzle velocity and the pellet weight in grains/grams using which the velocity is measured?
I understand range is something like 25-35 mts. ???

tarat,
Claimed velocity by IHP dealer is 650 fps in .22, i had one for years and it is good enough for what an air rifle should do. Will puncture an oil tin with heavy pellets, like the GSmith ones. Forget the barnes .58 or whatever, what will you do with it?
Invest in a HW series of rifles, the 77 model in.22 is really nice. The IHP is okay as the first air rifle, earlier it used to be a part of Hammerli and my old barell was very accurate. But the triger and all are a pain.
But if you want to invest in a long time piece that's nice to blast out of the box, then either import one or find a used one.
Regards,
Dev

Make sure it's a 77 K - it's better balanced. Bear in mind that .22 calibre is not permitted at NRAI affiliated ranges.
I personally feel it's a waste of money if you can save up or afford a 77k. Sujay bought one despite my telling him not to and you can read about his experiences with it on this site. The IHP is okay as the first air rifle
IHP made the CO2 Cadet rifle under licence from Hammerli and as far as I know that was the only association between the two.earlier it used to be a part of Hammerli
IHP bought their airgun making machinery from Diana. Pity they did not import the German work ethic.and my old barell was very accurate.
So you get a reasonably made barrel, hopefully, but the power plant, trigger, sights and stock are crap? I agree. But the triger and all are a pain.

The experience I had with is with the Air Pistol. The Air Rifle at least does not disintegrate while in use but has a visible barrel droop and pathetic sights.
I would strongly advise everybody against buying IHPs ( unless you are Mack The Knife / Dev or else can tune your AR to predict its performance) simply because of inconsistent performance. If not the HWs , go for the Gammo at least. Else, dejection sets in very quickly as results of dedicated practice never seems to show up.

Good for you Tarat. Gives you time to shop around rather than making an impulsive buy.

stop bashing IHP, I am gonna buy them out
Not really but at that price its an okay toy. They have also taken out a nickel version, shiny barrel and black stock. But trigger still a pain.
Hey, Mack The Knife will a Charlie Da Tuna made drop in trigger work? Reference the 'www.yellowforum.com'. Please do a search in the Chinese AG forum. Maybe you could also google for it. That piece cures most Gamos, is the trigger stuff same in most air rifles...okay don't begin to kick me Just asking it was an idea maybe...
Cause Mack The Knife if you could get the GTX trigger set and make some for the IHP alongwith a deadly stock, we might find a reason to get excited again. I don't know about barrel droop on the IHP but my friend had bought one and we were shooting Bisleri bottles with it at about 40 yards. And it was doing okay open sighted.
My one unmodified was okay at that time I didn't know that better triggers were possible. So we dropped stuff with it anyway, range was similar. Went thru and thru with pointed, old jerry cans really died hard.
And Mack The Knife you missed the fact that i spelled barrel and trigger wrong...so there.

Dev
