Nitro piston will last you 10000 shots. By the time you hit 10000, you would want a new gun or replace the piston.
I think springer lasts only 5000 shots if I'm not wrong. Read it somewhere. Others can comment.

My concern is that the nitro springs are not out too long and so not sure of their lifetime.

Re: First Airgun - IHP 35 vs Percihole SX or NX
The NX is quoted at 600 fps in their web site, and to shoot at such low velocities over 50m and still be accurate may be difficult without considerable elevation adjustment. Have any one did chrono of the rifle? is its velocity greater than advertised? please let me know, as i have been putting off buying .22 nx because of the velocity.Tiger619 wrote:Agree with peacefulguns. I too have the Precihole NX100 .22 caliber. Easily goes through 3 books of 40 pages each taped at the end of cardboard box and still hits the wall behind it. This gun is accurate upto 50 meters.
Your call.
thanks
Some learn by reading. A few by observation. The rest of 'em have to pee on the electric fence.

Nitro piston should not require changing at all and should not suffer from long term damage like springs.

I cannot comment on the fps, but I can say without a doubt that this gun is very powerful and can shoot targets at 50m. I have NX-100 Scorpious .22 caliber.
Expect a slight holdover (if any) for targets beyond 35 mts. For any target beyond 50 mts, its better you use a good scope.

Re: First Airgun - IHP 35 vs Percihole SX or NX
It is unlikely to be much higher. 50 meters is a long loooong distance and in India only a lucky few have access to a 50 meter range for air rifle shooting. In any case even if the velocity was 750 fps it would hardly make much difference at 50 meters.AnandNair wrote: The NX is quoted at 600 fps in their web site, and to shoot at such low velocities over 50m and still be accurate may be difficult without considerable elevation adjustment. If you can consistently hit (five out of five) tin can sized targets at 20 meters you can consider yourself a pretty good shot. Shooting accurately is not that easy. If you are looking at shooting at 50 meters or more you need a regular firearm and a place wher you can use it. Most people in India fail on at least one of those counts.
Get yourself a Prcihole or IHP and start shooting, which is fun when done safely.

50 mts shooting with AR , having spring or gas ram, is a tall ask.
I think a PCP or .22 LR would be the right choice.
AR is pretty entertaining till 30 mts.
Today any one having 50 mts range of his own ,should go for fire arm.

I will be buying the gun tomorrow. But still not decided SX or NX (Pegasus or Polaris)
BTW on the Percihole site, I see the Karbin variant with shorter barrel. What are the pro/con of the shorter barrel over longer?

Hello Guys,
> To all those who are planning to buy an Air Rifle just ask yourselves > "What am I buying it for"???
> Is it just for the love of plinking, target shooting or hunting which incidentally is banned in our country....
> Just remember that for all practical purposes be it target shooting or plinking "An air rifle that shoots a 14gr pellet at 600fps & delivers 12fpe" at its muzzle is best suited & recommended...
> Also the maximum effective range of a decent air rifle is 40 yards or 35 metres approximately.
> This is one reason why "The Authorities" have stipulated that any air arm that exceeds these limits will require a licence to possess it in our country....
> Please get this etched / recorded / engrained or whatever in your minds before embarking on discussing velocities, power etc.
> However if one is keen to shoot beyond 50 metres with adequate power - Please apply for a "Fire Arm Licence", get a 0.22 LR and enjoy your shooting....
> Remember that primarily an Air Rifle is meant for enjoying the pleasures of target shooting & plinking confined to a range of 40 yards approximately ....It can also be used to train oneself for actual firearm shooting...
> Air Rifles if used without discretion & observing "Safety Rules" can be dangerous - it can cause severe injuries & even death when hit in vital areas at close ranges.
> In case if any of you are wondering as to why a particular AR is not shooting beyond 600fps / 12fpe is because Manufacturers prefer to abide by the law / statute - if they flaunt or exceed these limits "Their Licences would be revoked / seized / cancelled" etc. besides being fined & imprisoned....
> Now who would want to exceed these stipulated limits & invite trouble? Would you as a manufacturer???
> Again the question of Spring Vs Gas Ram... This topic has been discussed up, down, sideways & even once around the park, but it keeps popping up again...Guys please read the posts carefully....
1. When you are cocking a Gas Ram fitted AR you are compressing a "Column" of air / gas.....Gas or Air does not have a "Fatigue Factor" - Springs Do because it is metal, it can warp, cant, vibrate & cause friction....whereas AIR / GAS do not have any of these shortcomings...
2. Therefore an AR with gas ram has a longer life, maybe 10,000 shots or more - A spring has a shorter life of maximum 5000 shots...
3. Changing a spring is a laborious process....
4. Whereas if at all there is a loss of power in the Gas Ram... all one does is to pump some gas / air through its valve!!!!
5. Gas Ram fitted ARs are smoother to cock, can be left cocked for a long time and a pleasure to shoot!!!
> Finally 'Choice' & 'Affordability' are a personal matter - but the fact remains...
A. Observing safety rules at all times when in contact with an Air Rifle....
B. Confine yourself to using air arms that deliver 600fps / 12fpe...
C. Do not 'blank fire' your AR - it's bad for the spring, piston, seal etc.
D. Use good quality pellets that provide consistent accuracy & grouping & stick to them....
E. Clean & lube your AR periodically...
F. When not in use cover it with a plastic sleeve (please do not store you AR in a canvas case as it will absorb moisture & cause rusting)
HAPPY SHOOTING

Re: First Airgun - IHP 35 vs Percihole SX or NX
Thank you everyone for helping me choose. Got the Percihole Pegasus yesterday along with Mastershot Export Quality pointed head pellets
I have already put through close to 100 rounds
I know everyone had recommended the gas ram but it is newer technology by Percihole. The dealer also told me it is much easier and cheaper to replace/fix any issues with spring. As this is my first gun, I decided to stick to tried and true springer.

It is your money and your decision. Would you want to buy a 35 mm film camera when high resolution digital cameras are available at similar or cheaper prices with better features and which are cheaper on the long run? Again it is your money and your choice, I wish you a happy and long shooting experience.

Re: First Airgun - IHP 35 vs Percihole SX or NX
I am facing a small problem with the rifle. The back Pin on the rear sight is slowly sliding out. There is too much play in it and it comes out about 1-2 mm after each shot. I then slide it back in. I am talking about item 26.I Hardened Pin in the spares part list (http://preciholesports.com/SX100%20Seri ... 20List.pdf)
Any solutions?

I thought they sorted out this problem. Nothing to worry. Just fix it in position with a little Loktite.
