92FS gas blow back converted to CO2 power

Hi All,

Just wanted to share my small experiment on my gas blow back beretta 92FS model ( Ofcourse its a toy gun, but I love it)

The gun power for this pistol is HFC 134 gas and it even works with HFC 22 gas which gives more power than the earlier. According to the company specification, this gun has around 275FPS.

Once I fill the gas in to the magazine, first 20 to 30 shots would be fine, after that the velocity decreases and even the cocking by the blow back becomes lazy :-)

Then I got an idea of converting this gas magazine to CO2 magazine ( CO2 gives more power compared to HFC gas). I have searched for M9 series magazines and I have imported one. After two weeks of waiting I have received the magazine. But it was disappointing:-) because the magazine dint fit exactly in to the magazine lock in the pistol.

After identifying the exact location where its suppose to sit, I took the magazine to near by carpenter in my locality and chopped the extra material.

And now it sits exactly in to the lock and it works with CO2 magazines too:-) :-) Also I noticed that the power also increased atleast 30%. More over, one CO2 cylinder gives atleast 40 to 45 shots with almost same velocity.

This difference in the gas power is good as springer and gasram :-)

I know this topic would be boring for you guys as this is airsoft gun, but still I wanted to share my successful experiment:-)

Here are the pics of my magazines and the pistol.

Kiran,
Thanks for posting this.
While you might think that many people will not be interested, there are quite likely some airsoft fans who will benefit from this now or at a later date.

Hi XL,

If you remember you are the one who pushed me to assemble the pistol myself when I imported the gun if you remember. Only because of you and TC I could do it.

With that experience I did this experiment.

Thanks to you guys:-)

I bought this CO2 cylinder 12g from kovi shop in Bangalore. As this is successful, I am going to import them myself which would be cheaper comparatively:-)

Oops sorry I got your question wrong:-)

As you can see in the picture, the extended part in the bottom of the magazine is a rail cap. We open it to find a big screw. Unscrew it, insert the cylinder, screw it as fast as possible until the cylinder gets locked inside the hammer pin contact. Push back the rail cap:-)

I hope now I answered your question.

Hi Kiran,

There are Airsoft GBB available in both powers CO2 and GAS with two mags, you can get one at next buy.
I mostly used air spray duster can to refill my GBB whenever GAS was not available, though I have lubricated my GBB with silicon lubricant frequently whenever I used this spray. it gave me fair power , I had to make one adapter to refill from these cans. these cans are available from 300Rs. to 700Rs on ebay.in depend on capacity. so please let us know how many shots you get from one CO2 refill and 1000ml or whatever capacity you have gas can, it will be helpful.
further ,if you are using both powers on same GBB care to lube it frequently since most of GAS can come with silicon lube mixed in them.

Hi UV,

That is true:-) Pistols which have CO2 power originally can also have the gas magazines and they are available in almost all airsoft stores. But this pistol which I have, has a gas magazine orginally. And I have searched a lot for CO2 magazines for it with no fruitful results.

And yeah, I had tested your idea of using air spray as gun power. I used to get it from SP roads in bangalore which costed around Rs 450 and even that dint give me the satisfaction:-) Infact if you observe, that air spray has almost HFC 154 gas contents. When 134 A gas itself is not satisfactory, 154 would be very less:-)

CO2 power is far far better compared to HFC gas powers. And I agree with you that, we need to lubricate it with silicon oil frequently as CO2 doesn't have this silicon mix along with the gas unlike HFC gas:-)

One local dealer gave me one liter silicon oil for Rs 400. He supplies the same to our office gym and so he gave me in less price. I am not sure if that is a reasonable price:-)

Now coming to the number of shots etc. HFC gas gives around 45 to 50 shots per fill. But only first 20 to 30 shots have the consistent velocity. Where as CO2 gives 40 to 45 shots per 12g cylinder and atleast 40 shots have the same velocity.

I agree that CO2 is little expensive compared to HFC gas. To gain something should loose something:-) :-)

Thanks so much for your suggestions, I will definitely follow them:-)
