its a hammerd rifle.in straght way when trigger is pulled it strikes with hammer pin that is alinged to to primer pocket.ofcourrce this is center fire rifle.it will ignite primer powdet then primer will ignite main proplent where as in muzzel loading gun you need purcssion cap and powder and bulletts are loade from muzzel and ignition is needed from breach to ignite the powder like matchlock,flintlock and purcussion cap fall in this catogery.needle gun is diffrent.i hope this will help thanks

Thanks for your appreciation, it is a hammered rifle, cordite ammo is used.

Thats a firing pin in the picture, which is hit by a hammer.

I am attaching the ammo picture, for size comparison I have kept a rifle bullet along with my .32 pistol bullet.

Hi Najeeb,

The offices of R B Rodda in Delhi and Mumbai were shut down long ago, possibly in the 50s or early 60s. After the British owners of the company left Kolkata the ownership went to an Indian business family which is today a prime player in floor and wall tiles. However the gun business as a whole had started to decline in the 80s and slowly the shop in Kolkata shut down about 10 years ago. The remaining few weapons in R B Rodda's custody, almost all of them deposited under Section 21 of the Arms Act years ago, were shifted to other gun dealers by the police authorities. I was lucky enough to pick up a few precious mementos when the shop was inching towards closure in the 90s.

I have owned more than a dozen weapons, mostly handguns. Right now I am working on a new project that I want to keep under wraps till I am done.

How you are able to get more then a dozen weapons, do you have a gun shop.

I would love to see your prized collection.

I still don't understand the policy of our government, what is the purpose of banning the import, if they think this way their local IOF made weapons will sell easily, then atleast why they don't try to make a weapon of good quality.

Even they don't care to have a blueing on a weapons, instead have it roughly black painted.

In the process I have owned 14 firearms in 25 years. Only my first weapon, a .32 Bernardelli pistol, belonged to my father and he gave it to me when I turned 21. I bought the rest myself.

That impressive to have a dozen weapons even at different time.

That was a great birthday present, you must have felt very proud then.

Now your present weapons must be very good.

Earlier I was thinking to sell my pistol and buy another one, so I consulted my known gunsmith, he advised me never to think of selling this pistol. Still I have my grandfather pistol.

As you have been searching for the right selected weapon over a period of years and now you have settled with the three, so as I guess these must be a very nice weapons.

Every person have different sentiments, hobbies, wishes for different things, those people who call you crazy might be doing something themselves which looks crazy to others. No need to worry what other say, just feel satisfied in heart that you have accomplished what you wished.

Many people also say to me to sell off this rifle as this is of no use( even I have fired this rifle two times in my life), one gunsmith even call it useless, so I had a good argument with him. Whether it is of any use or not, I can't think of parting it from me.

Don't worry about people calling a weapon useless. Just because you don't have the ammo they say the rifle is useless. If tomorrow you get 200 rounds from somewhere the same people will wait at your door with an offer. Right now I have a certain firearm which two of my friends laughed at. But I bought it just because I knew I would never get another one again. And with all my research and years of study I know I am right.
That is what matters... I guess that's what you tried to convey as well.

I don't care what other say because I know they are themself after my rifle. One of my know shop owner gave me a very good advice to sell this rifle and in it's place I should buy a IOF.22 rifle

I have a good quantity ammo for this rifle, but the problem is where I can use this rifle.
