First Airgun - IHP 35 vs Percihole SX or NX

Hey Guys,
I am planning to purchase my first air rifle. I have wide open fields behind my house and plan to put up some targets there to shoot.

Did some research on internet and this very helpful forum. I have narrowed it down to either the IHP 35 or the Percihole SX or NX. By all accounts the Percihole is better gun but it is almost twice the price of the IHP.
Can someone tell me what are the main advantages of going for it over the IHP?
What is the approximate range of both the guns till which they are failry accurate? Which will be easier to maintain?
Any other considerations?

I am also open to any other suggestions.

I have the Scorpius. It's actually a powerful weapon. One shot I fired hit the iron rod I was aiming at 35ft away ,bounced back to the wall 5ft behind me and dropped by my feet. I was astonished to say the least. I almost shot myself!

Agree with peacefulguns. I too have the Precihole NX100 .22 caliber. Easily goes through 3 books of 40 pages each taped at the end of cardboard box and still hits the wall behind it. This gun is accurate upto 50 meters.

I was alone on my roof, so nobody else was at risk. It certainly increased my respect for the weapon. I always fire the other guns I have at a target which can absorb the shot, but I was not rating this air gun so highly.

I have an IHP 35 and an Orion. The Orion shoots heavier pellets more comfortably than the IHP IMO and is somewhat more powerful. If money is an issue, you will not regret buying an IHP 35 and there is hardly any difference in power/range. Don't expect great power beyond 30 to 35 meters.

This is my first air gun and frankly speaking I am not very sure if I will be able to follow through this new hobby (You know how it is with wife, job and family

)
So I am not sure if it is worth it to spend close to double with Percihole.

What is the advantage of 0.22 over .177? From my reading on the internet, it seems that .177 is more universally accepted.

In fact 0.177 has the edge on many counts. Rifle clubs and competitions allow only 0.177. The pellets are smaller and cheaper per shot. Imported 0.177 pellets are available if you want, and for muzzle velocity Nazis, 0.177 s have a higher muzzle velocity than 0.22 in the same rifle model.

But for dedicated plinkers like me - I prefer 0.22. Also, with my new found hobby of high speed videography - the 0.22 pellets are seen better.

To put it simply 0.177" cal pellets maintain a much flatter trajectory over long ranges as well as sort ranges when compared to 0.22" pellets with the same muzzle energy. I have no knowledge of 10 mt paper target match shooting. But I like field target type shooting where a shooter is required to shoot at targets placed at different ranges varying between may be 5 yards to 50 yards, at varying heights/positions so that the shooter would have to assume different shooting postures and shoot at different angles to hit the approximately 2.5" dia. kill zone of a field target to score a legal hit. In my experience/opinion an accurate Rifle and pellet combination with a scope zeroed correctly for that particular rifle pellet combination to shoot at the required ranges with required accuracy assuming that the shooter can estimate the range fairly well and know his pellet trajectory. So in my opinion for field target type of shooting ).177 " caliber is a better choice. But I know shooters who could accomplish the same with 0.22" cal. air guns also.
For plinking type of shooting 0.22 cal is better and economical because a wide range of indian made good quality pellets are available for that kind of shooting at very reasonable prices. But for any kind of target shooting good quality imported pellets in 0.177" cal which out perform indian make pellets are some what very,very expensive and availability is also a problem for those not living in the metros. Just my opinion.

I have decided to go for Percihole either Pegasus or Polaris (0.177").

Now the question is SX or NX? I suppose NX will be more expensive to maintain than SX.
But how much more? And anything else to consider?

Maintenance cost for break barrel airguns are mostly the same - very close to zero. A wipe down with oil soaked cloth after every use, a couple of drops of oil once in a while. And the babies keep shooting nicely. For a PCP or CO2, it's a different ball game (cost of scuba tank, cost of petrol to find scuba tank, and so on!!).

Just ensure you keep the AR in open air (i.e. not in a cloth / plastic cover or box), wipe the AR down with the oil soaked rag every week or so (to prevent rust) even if you don't use it. And do shoot a few pellets at least once a week. Just to keep the parts moving smoothly.
