PRECIPELL Field Target .177 Domed pellets

Post by pratik_mahale » Wed Jan 22, 2014 12:05 am

I got Preciholes .177 round head pellets last week
Precihole also have .177 flat head pellets but I am more interested in round head
Still not tested this pellets in any of my air rifle but soon I will post the accuracy & velocity result
My digital camera have focus problem that’s why I can’t take close photographs of pellets
177 pellets.jpg
I have Air Arms Diabolo field 8.4 grain pellets for comparison
Weight of Preciholes .177 is less 8.2 grains which I feel good for 12 ft-lbs air rifle
The length of the Preciholes .177 is longer by about 1 mm I don’t have vernier caliper to
give perfect reading
Pellets skirts is not thin as compare to Air Arms pellets but very good compared to any of Indian pellets & fits perfectly in my Pegasus

I measure the weight of the pellets & they are very consistence (weight is in grams)

.53 , .53 , .54 , .53 , .54 , .53 , .53 , .53 , .54 , .53

Also measure all those 10 pellets simultaneously & the weight was 5.34 grams

That's fabulous !!
Yet the consistency in terms of dimension has to be ascertained.
Nice feedback.

Looks clean and great!!!
Check out the accuracy and consistency part that's what is more important :)
And are these pellets available in market, if not when are they expected to be in market ?

Hi Pratikji
Thats a good info on those precipells, do you have any measurements of the skirt dia. as well?
And whats your take on the lead fouling it may cause? From looks does it look similar to gsmith or they are shinnier?
regards Moulindu

Not wishing to "hijack" the thread, pratik_mahale.

But a few of the answers I suppose I could pinch in, after inspection of Precipell .177 flat-heads yesterday. "Domes" aren't markedly different except for their shape and flight characteristics.

1. They are manufactured by gsmith - specially for PH as per PH's exact and exacting specifications. So they are still different from what one expects out of gsmith stables.
2. There is hardly any lead dust that occasionally shows in some of gsmith or Mastershot tins.
3. No they are not shiny but have darkened anodized and somewhat smooth (almost oily) texture.
4. Due to higher weights (.53/.54 g) they are better suited to field targets and can deliver that much punch to the metal duck - so to speak. :-)
5. The flat faces and skirts of randomly lifted and looked at pellets (#8-10) were uniform and blemish-free.
6. Then I observed a test shooter unleash a string of 5 of those pellets on an AR target at 10m - all tightly grouped between 10 and 7. Freehand, unsupported and open sights. He comes from a Mumbai college team, so can be considered a better shooter than 'Aam Aadmi' - err, no political overtones/ puns here. ;-) And shot with T-shirt and Jeans (not wearing that armor-like paraphernalia).

The point I want to make here is that the shooter and AR (Club/ Pegasus) being good and the pellets (precipell) being of quality the grouping would be good. So go ahead and try out a tin. Contact PH directly through email/ phone on how to get your hands on one. Good luck. Safe shooting.
