Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
hey hvj still waiting for the advice on the grip. however the prac has restarted on the inhouse range . feeling a bit better now, even th grip seems to be cominng back. but in the present state i feel it is advisable to wait till NZ and show some improvement. the prob is the capapie pump is asusual offroad and pdra keeps running out of gas. any solution of this perenial gas shortage?
hey tir, i heard u and agn r going to be in pune on the 29th. hope to see u then

MSCC - Concluded. Better scores than last time but not as per expectation. Thought I could have hit more with paper targets and fine air circulation. But that was not to be. Felt the tension but not panic. Body fitness wanting tremendously. None to share that blame but me. Spasms and aches. Had a beautiful 10.9 on one shot.
GVM - Still 99% sure, won't go; but it's the 1% that still pricks me every now and then. Also flirting with the idea of driving 2000km each way, but family and the fog in north India discourage. The only motivation to go to Asansol, if any is to meet up with upacharyaji.
NZ - Wanna go and do it; but no form yet with MRA. Just afraid might lose the steam y the time forms become available.
WZ - Unclear. Only rumors. I predict immediately after the NZ with a day or two in between.

Hi all Seniors, Happy Diwali
I just had a query, it is mentioned the GVM is being conducted by Asansol Rifle Club but there is no mention of the exact location of shooting range. Where is it exactly so that I can search on GPS on my mobile while reaching there?
Regards
Thankss..

Happy Deepawali to all.
Dear Amarinder, I suppose it will be at same place since the circular says..."It has been decided to hold XXIII All India G. V. Mavlankar Shooting Championship in Small Bore Rifle/ Pistol events at Asansol Range, Asansol, West Bengal from 6th to 15th November 2013 as detailed in the program attached at Appendix “A” ..."regs, A.

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
Thanks Airgun novice,
When I search "asansol shooting range" in google maps, I get this location- RPF Old Shooting Range Chittaranjan, WB 713331 .Sir, please check it also if that is the range i have to reach. I will come with my friend on car from dhanbad so dont want to bother him with wrong location.
Also, are there ETS for gvm or paper targets?
Thanks and regards

Dear Amarinder, Our best bet is to search for "Asansol Rifle Club" - that's what I meant. upacharyaji says it's paper there. regs, A.

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
Sir ,
I would request your advise on a rather strange problem I have.
While I am righthanded, my dominant eye is my left eye. I have therefore been advise to shoot air pistol with my RIGHT hand and LEFT eye.
The problem lies while taking the stance. At a body natural position, my right arm goes straight onto the black circle. However when I take up the pistol, the sight are naturally aligned at 7:30 about 7-8 cms away from the centre of the black circle.
Is there any way of correcting this ?
Thank you
Rockcity

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
Dear dev,
Plan to be in Delhi on 23rd through 26th for the AP (NZ). Not sure how/ when they will assign the detail to the out-zoners; will keep you informed. Need to sort out a technical glitch with MRA today/ tomorrow first. Will you be playing the FP event at NZ along with the AP this time ? Jitu is coming in too. Think you missed meeting with him last time.

Hi Amol,
Will be there on the 23rd. Won't be shooting air or fp as I suck at both. I am going to start a new event...gulel before the ISSF mucks it up.
Hope you will have a bit of time this time around.
Regards,
Dev

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
hey dev dont joke u were there at these events much before us and i am sure u can get back into form. so why not try out. we are all doing just that. have been trying to prac within little windows of opportunity that my hectic schedule provides. but i am game at trying.
amol - as discussed will land up only in the eve on 23rd. so will have to run around on 24th to get hold of my card and the weapon control then hope like hell that my detail is planned better by the NRAI blokes than it was by my raj manager last time. then will try my best.
hey rockcity havent seen u on this thread before. hence a piece of advice. just read this thread from day one. i too had this problem. but with advice from hvj i have prac and got my rt eye trained to become my shooting eye. helps a lot. so please read it all once and then shoot your doubts. we have a great guru and upacharya, who have the experience and are eager to help all. welcome to TOPS.

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
Dear dev/ jitu,
I have decided to take the chance with NZ this time having sorted the Qn with MRA today. Now one route to KSSR and back is what we in IT call as 'Brute Force Method', i.e. just sit in the car and drive. The other two are the more 'civilized' way of air or rail. Air being most expensive and cumbersome post-landing sits on the back-burner. The train leaves me to the vagaries of WL & Tatkal.
Now if I were to take the train,
1. Where do I (preferably) get down ? NDLS, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Faridabad ?
2. Where do I hunt for a hotel ? Most of the cheap (umm, 'economic') options happen to be in Karol Baug/ Pahadganj area
3. I am thinking of landing in on 23rd or 24th, so can shoot on 25th or 26th.
4. Who does the "out-zoner" like me talk to wrt competitor card/ details since do not assume any MH mgr would be around ?
Will zero down in a day or two and shall mail you both the travel details.

PS: DEVbabu - as they say in cricket, When the God retires, the game will still go on, but the TOPS won't be as much fun. So hope to see you punch a few holes having .177" and .22" diameter.

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
HI, blew this one again. I am facing an issue which is mainly because of inexperience of matches. After few shots my mental stamina runs out and I start firing without mental clarity. In match, I shot 2-3 7s and 8s and lost motivation as 363 seemed too far. A good shooter will correct a bad shot immeditately while for me it takes time and by that time I get demotivated during the match.Have realized that I need lot of mental FOCUS training. I am patient as I have the experience of being extremely physically weak in first year of college and by third year I was university champion in 800m and 1500m races. So, I know the value of time and initial disappointments.airgun_novice wrote: Dear Amarinder, How did GVM go for you ? I could not make it to Asansol due to some reasons.
