Sting ray belly skin used to be used in many high quality blades of yore, doesn't slip when wet with sweat ..... or blood! Now let's see where's it available, you could try a stingray.... but remember what happened to that Australian TV guy when he was fondling stingrays!

Hi,
Did see the tools mentioned. Would like to know more about the make "brand" of tools, your using. I tired a few Chinese tools before moving back to Dremel.
A photo of your workshop would be nice
Happy Tinkering! I just wish I had the time to do it myself

Pistolero

I am really not big on brands as far as tools are concerned and use whatever I can get my hands on. Used to be quite enamoured with Dremel and all those tiny attachments it comes with, till I actually used the Dremel 300 and Dremel 400. Both rotary tools died after 8 months with burnt armatures. Considering that the cost of reparing a dremel (and also compatible accessories) is often more than a new chinese ripoff with more power, its not quite logistically attractive . Also, I believe Dremel and its ilk are way under-powered (300-500watts)) are meant for much lighter craft work and not effective for heavier metal work like cutting and grinding. Personally, when buying power tools (branded or otherwise), i just look at how the motor runs and sounds. A clean running motor with low vibrations and low frictional noise is usually good enough.
As for my current tools, I use
grinders(belt and bench) from Einhell (Germany) both with 1000watt power output
angle grinder from Bosch- 850 watts
Circular and jig saws - cheap Chinese ones 800watts
impact/rotary drill - chinese 850watts
However, the angle grinder takes care of 90% of whatever i do.
Having said that, the brand/quality of tool accessories, however, does have a significant effect on the quality and efficiency of work. A high end Bosch flap wheel or cutoff disc will always give better results than a cheaper locally made one. Irrespective of the tool its being used with.
Well, thats my 2cents based on experiences. I believe there are members with much deeper understanding of tools and their use and would be grateful to get their insights and experiences on this topic.
cheers

For the two, I have used woodwork chisels. The manufacturer claims it to be T12 tool grade steel wit HRC 60-63,which I doubt .
