Can You Identify This Bayonet?

I stumbled upon this bayonet today. It does not look like a fake. Very sturdily put together and you can even see the grease on the blade. Got all the usual provisions and features of a modern bayonet such as wire cutting, saw etc. Even a strip of knife sharpener is there on the back of the scabbard.

It`s got me confused ..... looks like a cross between an AKM variant and a Buckmaster 188.

Could it be a locally ( Georgian ) made AKM variant ?

Just found out what it is probably. An M9-Bayonet.

Whether the one I posted the photo of is original needs to be verified. Now that I found what it is, I am beginning to think that it could be a reproduction,albeit a decent one.

You really should have turned the bayonet over to see what was stamped or etched on the other side of the ricasso. Tut. wrist slapped.

Are'nt the serrations on the M9 different Grumpy. Vikram does it have USMC Buck stamped on the ricasso just after the guard. Nice find.I saw the bayonets that come with the INsas.... Horrible....

There were/are different manufacturers of the M9 but the original design was by Buck and became known as the Buckmaster 188. The teeth on the sawback versions quite likely vary.

Why don't people post pictures of Bayonets they have in this thread, if it's fine by Vikram that is. Brihaji has a fantastic old piece. Tcda has a few good ones and Naga collects them too I think.

I think that`s a really good idea ..... even better perhaps to start a new thread asking members to post pictures of bayonets that they have. Vikram ....... ?

What is the hole towards the front for?

It hooks over a projection on the scabbard so that the blade can be used as a wire cutter against the scabbard - rather like scissors.
