Hello,
So another one of my applications got rejected by the Delhi Police! I had applied for the addition of a NPB DBBL Shotgun and provided the following reason
That I require addition of NPB DBBL Shotgun because the Arms Act 1959 entitles an Arms License holder to possess upto three weapons at a time and I currently only have one weapon endorsed on my license. Furthermore, the Arms Act 1959, or any subsequent notification issued under Section 44 of the Arms Act 1959, do not restrict the type of weapons that can be possessed by a licensee.
They responded back saying that they will be unable to consider my application since I did not provide a reason for this request.
I can't say that I want this for sport / skeet since my membership with DSRA has been pending since January and I have no idea when it will be approved.
How should I respond to this? I can't think of another reason besides Self Defense.
Regards,
Kandarp

Looks like you will have to fight yet again. As suggested, a reason such as protection or defense may be better.
I would rather hit my target gently than miss hard.

It does seem like that
. I'm not too sure about the grounds that I can give for self-defense, I already have a pistol endorsed for this reason...

Please see Section 13 (3) a (i) of the Arms Act 1959
http://www.abhijeetsingh.com/arms/india ... r_3_4.html
They cannot deny you the license for a smooth bore gun required by you for the purpose of protection or for sport.

Abhijeet,
Will this also apply for Addition of Weapons? If so, then I will just respond back to the authority saying that I need it for protection.
I had sent them a copy of an Allahabad High Court judgment which clearly stated that a person requesting an addition does not need to provide a reasoning for doing so.
Getting very tired of these folks...
Thanks,
Kandarp

Karandeep! maybe if u apply under a pseudo name they'll issue u another one for self protection. Tell them it's for your alter ego
How about 'self protection at home'. Even if u say sports you don't have to have a membership, I didn't have it when I applied. Tell them u want to start now. Abhijeet's also quoted the arms act section.
Cheers,
SS

I'm pretty sure that these guys flag any document containing my name, might just be easier to legally change my name.

I think I will state that. I'm going to say that I need it for protection as well as to learn skeet shooting. I know they are going to reject me again...
Any update regarding your paperwork?

IMO, won't it be better to get a long gun first and add a handgun saying you can't have the long gun on your person at all times?

Kandarp,
I got a call the other day from a lady stating there was a mismatch in my docs-rightly so. After a chat with u I had changed the application to npb pistol but hadn't changed the affidavit. Went there and signed a change on the current affidavit.
I've prepared my appeal. Added new points. Will send it to u. I'm quite sure they'll reject it. Was thinking of visiting the LG office to understand the administrative process of appealing. Will do it sometime this month and keep u posted.

Sure, I look forward to plagiarizing from your appeal.
When do you plan on going to the LGs office?
PS I've had horrible luck with the area of validity as well.

That makes it the 2 of us! Just back and forth with letters.
I was thinking of going sometime after 22nd. I have a few lawyers at work. Will get the appeal reviewed from them. Will send to u the first draft tomorrow.
