Ruger .22 LR (Pics)

I went to the range earlier to shoot the .308 and took this baby along to shoot in between sessions while I am waiting for the barrel to cool.

It is a Ruger 10/22 in .22 LR topped by a Hawke HD 4x scope.

Rimfire autoloaders are fun to shoot,posting pictures of 2 10 shot targets at 25 yards....

I think accuracy is acceptable enough for me to take shots up to 75 yards confidently.



One is a flyer and I think it was me.

Herb, in Montana, that would be called a standard "gopher gun" setup.

I am reading that your Hawke HD scope is rated for air guns. Please tell me what you think of it quality and clarity wise, and also your impression of its durability.

I also see that Hawke has an adjustable objective version. Is there any reason you didn't spring for that feature?

Wow, looking at this sure gives me the taste for a warm afternoon decimating vermin and filling empty pop cans with holes and lead!

Timmy, I picked up the Hawke because it was on Sale for $50. It also has a lifetime warranty. The guy at the store told be to bring it back if there are any problems and he will give me a new scope. Can't beat that for $50.

It was an impulse buy, so far so good with no problems. Clarity and brightness are ok for rimfire purposes.

The AO version was not on sale, so I did not look at them. I normally use Bushnell Elites (6500 & 4200) on my hunting rifles and this cannot be compared to them but then the price difference is also huge.

This rifle has so many possibilities, it almost like the airforce condor air rifle.

Have you tried a bunch of different ammo in that rifle?
You might find that some of the subsonics group better in that rifle than the high velocity.
I've had good luck with Remington subsonics and CCI standard velocity.

You will also find that the action will get smoother and your groups will get smaller after you run a couple of bricks through it.

I have not tried the subsonics, I will pick up some the next time I go to the sporting store. The mini-mags shoot well in my brno so that was what I had with me.
