Sanjay,

Peter Hofer is probably one of the finest individual custom gun craftsmen in the world today. He routinely builds lightweight semi auto shotguns that weigh less then best doubles for the fun of it. I do know that he recently contacted a good friend of mine at the Firearm Engravers' Guild Conference and asked him to work with him on a future creation. I shall ask my friend to check with him and get the details here if Herr Hofer permits us to post them.

Mehul,
Thats real delight for the eyes. The stats are mind boggling-price included :)
love the bolstered action. usually expect to see this on a heavy DR,not a 17.

Danish,

Glad you liked it. Somehow miniature anything interests me - tried my hand at making a ship in a bottle but didn;t succeed as I am all thumbs. :D The craftsmanship here is incredible.

Asif,

I guess when you make an entire double rifle weighing 1 kg, you have to have the bolsters to give it strength even if it is chambered only for the 17 HMR or the 22 Hornet.

In any case, I am no expert and Grumpy could give us his opinion on this.

Cheers!

Gorgeous isn`t it ? Yes, I`d like one of those.
The side bolsters can only be decorative - they`ll add a ( very ) little stiffness the the sides of the action but are unnecessary. If they really were necessary they be deeper and thicker.

Wow is all I can say! Thanks for sharing this Mehul - it's a beauty indeed! Though I guess for most of us here... we can just admire this lovely hand crafted piece of perfection from a distance... Now, this would have been about the right place for me to insert an appropriate sexist comment (with all the correct insinuations being made) - but I shall refrain! ;)

Cheers!
