Dear slingshot sir,
Could you please explain the process? My Mercator blade got darkened after it was cleaned with a kitchen duster (which was slightly humid). I put Ballistol on the blade immediately but the dark stain stayed back.

Hey Me Too :D
A couple of my blades (been with me for over 30yrs!!!) both made out of Lorry Leaf Spring (images can be seen in my earlier post 'Briha's Blades') have gathered some spots
Tried '0' emery - still they exist - need advice.

I have a caveat here. Even if you patina the blade with mustard and vinegar, it is still possible for the blade to rust. Since we are talking about carbon steel, please always keep it oiled.

Having said that, if you wish to remove stains on a knife, one way, is to use any flouride based toothpaste and a wine cork. Just add the toothpaste to the cork and gently rub on the stain on the blade in gentle circular motions. Wash off. The stains should come off.

For creating a mustard and vinegar patina, Moin has written a very interesting thread on it here . You can use anything acidic like lemon juice etc.

Started the process over the weekend. Till now the response has been a mail asking me to take delivery in Siliguri. For me, that's the place where one changes from a plane or train to a car to go to Darjeeling / Sikkim!!! I have asked KKHI for Kolkata delivery. But...... as the KKHI says "the time frame cannot be committed"!!!!!

Going for smaller (8") blades, as they are most likely to be used. Utility blades only.
Cheers!

Briha sir, it's just like a marriage - no commitment (of cash) without a commitment (of time). I would rather wait for me, or someone, to travel to Nepal. Or I might just finish my bowie and threaten Moin to give up his Khuk!!! A third option might be DIY.......... what say MCM Gang, shall we try??

The other (and far more expensive) major Khukri exporter - Himalayan Imports - flatly refused to ship to India!!

Seriously, I haven't got any reply on the Kolkata option, and it is impossible for me to get it from Siliguri in the foreseeable future. So, unless they commit a Kolkata delivery within some time frame (even a long time frame) my cash remains in my pocket.
Cheers!

Moin, I, for one, don't have a savings account!! (probably the only Bong in the Universe).... . And unless I can be sure the khuks arrive before I die of sheer old age............. I am now trying to persuade our company's distributor in Birganj to do the needful. Being an importer, he can probably get me a AK if required  ! Your ex, Ms. Pradhan, seems to have fallen silent. Perhaps she liked you better???
Cheers!

SdDa, good things in life to those who wait. I had an email from Ms. Pradhan that they have made arrangements with DTDC to deliver to Mumbai, not sure why they are reluctant now.

As far as liking me better is concerned, ofcourse ! what did you expect, not all women fall for old men ROTFL

Wowie Moin!!! I can't wait!!!

See, as I said earlier, only Moin can get the ladies in Khukuri House to deliver ......... (khukris to Mumbai, to be specific.....).

Thank God for the declaration.... probably for the collectors who have a few hundred khuks in their climate controlled basements!!
Cheers!
