Post by horvath brother » Mon Feb 04, 2013 6:23 pm

Scopecam video showing shots in beer cans full of water and empty tin of JSB 250 units range 180 meters (196 yards). Unfortunately the slowmotion camera was with my brother and the same can not attend. Hope you enjoy.

Pellet: JSB Exact 15,9 grains / 1,030 g (5,52 mm)
V0: 269 m/s / 882 fps
Scope: 25x zoom - Hawke Sidewinder Tatical 8,5-25x42

Excellent video! Amazing to see that you managed to hit those targets at nearly 200 yards with an air rifle. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting video. It appears that the flight time of each pellet is approximately 1 second. This sets off a lot of memories. I used to waste time in college doing calculations related to this. But that was decades ago.

If the muzzle velocity is 270 meters/sec and the range is 180 meters, and time taken is 1 second, the average velocity would be 180 m/sec
In actual fact the pellet starts off at 270 m/sec but slows down and my calculation tells me that at 180 meters (196 yards) it hits the can at a mere 50 meters per sec.

Impressive! That is a helluva long distance for an air gun.
