They are next only to Scotland Yard
Yeah, if all Scotland Yard is like Lestrade out of the Sherlock Holmes books! Lestrade at least had the brains & guts to call Sherlock when the going got tough for him!
Cheers!

Hi Moin,

My dear Moin,
Let me do a review of this review.

There are three types of reviews.

Category 1) These reviews are so exhaustive and cramped with so much of technical information (often quite unnecessary) that readers who are not really into the subject feel tired and leave halfway through it while those deeply into the subject start cursing the reviewer for underestimating their knowledge and common sense.

Category 2) These are reviews that just touch upon the salient points and do not get deep enough to draw the attention of readers, let alone their inquisitiveness. Its over even before it started.

Category 3) These are reviews that say it all in crisp, simple layman's language and yet touch upon every minute technical detail. These are reviews that appeal equally to experts and students. These are reviews people love to read and yearn for more.

Conclusion : Your review comes under Category 3. This is a model for all reviewers.

Thank you brother

Moin bro, you may be good with knives and reviews but your attempt to speak my tongue is worse than rusty ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL

No I am not making fun of you at all... I meant every word and quite dispassionately. It is a GREAT review..

Please do and let me know what you think and more importantly mistakes if any. The last thing I want to do is convey incorrect or inaccurate information in the IFG forum. The sentry takedown images are freely available off the internet. However if you and the mods find it inapprppriate for this forum, will gladly take them out.

Moin,

Those pics have been on the internet for quite some time. However, since IFG is not a school of combat, I would like you to remove the sketches and pics from the first post. Just being extra cautious. The text definitely remains.

Coming to the review, it wasn't as long a read as I imagined it to be and was enjoyable reading and many thanks for the same. However, since you have taken great pains in preparing this review, I think you need to get rid of the typos and make it better.
Both Col.Rex Applegate and WE Fairbarn were officers of the Office of Strategic Services formed during WWII
I would word this differently. To the best of my knowledge W.E. Fairbairn was an officer in the British Army. He did train the Americans and Canadians though.
and his most famous written work, Kill or Be Killed
That should be "Kill Or Get Killed". Kill or be killed was Fairbairn's motto when he taught his students the art of gutter fighting.
The spear point is a variation to the drop point design and gives a stronger tip compared to the sharply tapering NEEDLE POINT blades such as the FS Commando knife
In the past I have used both my Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knives as throwing knives :stupid: but neither knives had their tips broken. Since the target was a tree stump and not a cardboard box filled with newspaper, I think it would be fair to say that the points on these knives aren't as weak as we imagine.

Edit: Holding the knives with the blades partly open and with your fingers in the way, is just plain wrong.

Maybe insted of deleting the photos, you could paste a link to the page they are on. In a way they do add a something to the post as it gives us a vision about what the original, intended, use of the knife was.

Who ever is holding the knife, has very small hands. How useful is a folding knife of this type? Would not a fixed blade be better?
