Why do you make such emphatic statements when you know next to buggerall on a subject? Noticed this habit of yours on other non-knife related subjects as well.

Yeah, i'm going a bit blind.I removed the erroneous post as soon as i read it again.I read NOT oustside the US as outside the US.

Are you telling me you can kill, skin, clean and cut a goat into biryani sized pieces with one small folder? It could be any small folder....even my tanto.I suppose with a great deal of time and patience it could be done, but not the first choice is it?

If you find this so difficult to believe, perhaps you should stick to cutting circles in paper.

Time and patience, eh?

Veggies and squemish city slickers don't click the link but I hope you still do. ROTFL

As for your silly tanto with the equally silly serrated edge....bin it!

Really?? Well, I'd gladly take you up on that statement, Sky
"With solid bullets on heavy animals such as elephant, rhino and buffalo this power is quite apparent but is not so obvious as when soft-nose bullets are being used, say, lion, particularly when is a case of stopping a charge : the .404 will stop him all right, but will seldom crumple him quite so completely as will the .416" -- John Taylor, Big Game and Big Game Rifles, (Ch. IX)

X375 you are on.A live goat must be bled, skinned, cleaned and cut into bite sized pieces, with the bones also cut.I will bet you a grand sum of fifty rupees it won't be as smooth as using a proper knife meant for the job, and much more time consuming.Must be put on video. Also put up a picture of what knife you are going to use - Remember the small folders that were being discussed were things like the cara cara and the nerve. So you are on!

Bah! Stop dissing my tanto! I have feelings..... ROTFL ROTFL .I will watch the video later.

Thanks.

Sky man, many moons ago, i posted a similar post on a thread asking abot hunting knives and why they were all small when they were needed to cut deer etc. most of my arguments were similar to yours and some of the senior members were kind enough to enlighten me. Back then i believe it was vikram who posted the video.

I had also put forward an argument about how a knife couldnt be used t make nalli-boti (cut bone with meat still around it.

And yes you are right, a small knife isnt as good as a cleaver for cutting bones. And a cleaver isnt as good as a bone saw. However a small knife can bleed, skin, quarter any game and cut the meat.

Hence my suggestion for sing it on a goat first. U had put up a post asking my opinion about which one would i recommend (from the list).

It would depend on the use. for eg:

1) field use
2) a piece of art
3) looks good
4) good for taking pics and posting on facebook/form/ bragging rights
5)an investment
6) just for the love of owning a blade
7) self defence
8) use in kitchen
9) use in competition(s)
etc etc

so it depends on what you want it for.

Thanks Mack.. for this wonderful video,
Now, everyone will agree that size does not matter, even in case of a knife.
What matters is the ART/SKILL and the EDGE. :) :)

Regards.

PS: even in my local meat shop the butcher uses only a small knife on goat to make it ready as meat to sell. Afterwards, he uses a chopper to cut the meat as per customers requirement.

A knife, in the size and weight range of a Cara Cara, should not be used to cut through bone. This is assuming you value your edge. However, a small knife can be made to cut through flesh and bone. Let me see if you or Bawaji Jr. can figure out how. BTW, you will need to supply the goat. If you cannot afford one, you could always offer yourself.

This was exactly what i was trying to say, except perhaps i should have said " Shouldn't " instead of " can't ".

How on earth can i afford a goat? I could probably put up a goldfish ROTFL And Mack you say the wickedest things.... .Perhaps Moin can provide a goat...? ROTFL .

Further, nearly all the small knives used on game are fixed blades of good quality, which can be controlled nicely.

I wasn't hiding, i was typing.Neither Zeus nor hellfire do i flee from...

Is Fred using a Balisong?

Excuses, excuses....

I think Ol' Fred did a pretty good job controlling the blade on his multi-tool. A little practice is what is needed and since you cannot afford goats you can always apprentice for Usmaan Suleman Kababwalla - the friendly neighbourhood butcher.
