Oh wonderful, excellent choice Skyman. I do have it but I've completely dismantled it. Was attempting some mods, never got around completing them and assembling the knife back. Sorry.

TCda, now I know why Hindustan Time is looisng buisness to TOI. Becuase you are spending all your office time browsing IFG. Very nice TCda, That's a nice SAK and sharp too. My Bunderwehr used to loose edge on no time.

The mark of the sharp knife is a full circle without any variation or any of those little ear like things.Moin wrt tenacious, considering selling?
I would rather hit my target gently than miss hard.

Hi Skyman,
Thanks for this post, after reading this I took out few of my knives from the storage. Though all of them are new and out of the box, I will SHARP them :mrgreen: and post the results soon.

Lets see what I can make, a chapatti, a papad or an ALOO PARATHA. :)

need some relaxation from the rule,
can I mark a circle and cut through it.
new boy ( kachha limbu, as said here in mumbai) :) , but will be honest to use only the knife not scissor.

Sure you can mark it.The idea is this - If your knife is sharp, it will cut any kind of curve perfectly without going off the intended path or tearing.You should cut the circle in one smooth motion, not little by little.

Observe the pictures put up, it will give you a clear idea of what i'm on about.

Sorry Skyman, it;s one of my project knives, never got around completing it, but have things planned in my head. Try the Byrd series from Spyderco as well, Steel is the same but much cheaper.

Thanks, checked them out.Seems highly doable at 20$.Any other options? There is talk of boker and kershaw having comparable offerings as well....

I had a Byrd Cara Cara which I gave away as a gift to someone near and dear. these are very good value for money blades. 8Cr13MoV is teh chinese equivalent of Aus 8.Steel Bokers are expensive, have no experience with Kershaws. There's a sale too going on at Knife Centre and Byrd Series are being offered on discounted prices.

How was the cara cara wrt edge retention? Heard they need touching up often...

having a good edge and holding it are two different things. How about using it first and then trying this?

Get a leg or better neck or ribs of a goat from your local shop. Then butcher the meat yourself, hen go to your garden/backyard, cut a few twigs/branches etc. then stab it into a tree trunk then into the ground. Then try this exercise. This what I could come up with to simulate field use since hunting is banned.

Am I being naughty here on purpose to start another online debate. :twisted:
