I do not know who suggested the Morini Short barrel to you, but I must say that your choice is EXCELLENT!!! This will take you good heights very shortly. Is it a mechanical or electronic trigger? At last, I find someone who does not opt for a Steyr LP10.

It was suggested by a forum member Olly aka Anupam Kamal, then reaffirmed by Jaydeep Karmakar. However even after all these suggestions somehow I was going for the LP10. But my last minute attraction for LP10 was destroyed by Dev da, who said "Dont go for the LP10, the f****** trigger is a b**** to handle"...

So that was it and I ordered the Morini Short Barrel with electronic trigger...

Dear dev,
I do not know if you have tried to fiddle with the sear adjustment of your LP10. But you can give it a try to get a crisp trigger. I am talking about the sealed (red seal marked) forbidden screw which is so nicely and perfectly factory set by Steyr .
- Cock the AP to dry fire mode.
- Turn the sear screw clockwise slowly until the trigger breaks. Stop immediately.
- Give an anticlockwise 1/8 turn to the screw

Now cock again and dry fire. It should feel better.

Hi Tir,

Haven't fiddled with the sear yet, don't have the guts to and I can see Rajiv Sharma (Delhi STATE Head, renowned shot, Austria trained air gunsmith) wagging his fingers in a no no direction. At the moment I am fiddling with my mind, as I squeeze the trigger perfectly...without hesitation or finding it growing heavy while facing a blank wall. So it seems it is a case of the nut behind the butt. I shall after this try it with a target stuck to the wall. Once this is accomplished I shall try to shoot live and blow up the electronic targets.

I really do not understand what is so perfect/secret/enimgatic/sacred/ whatever you say, about the sear setting of a Steyr. I doubt if any other AP manufacturer forbids you to adjust their sear setting. So, I am obliged to conclude that either it is a work of art adjustment (to the level that average shooters do not even understand, forget the word 'master' the trigger work) which is an exclusivity of Steyr or the mechanism is too fragile / not reliable to hold the let off mechanism in place when adjusted finely.

On my LP10 (which I got rid off eventually 3 years back), I had adjusted the sear setting following the instructions of a high level AP shooter in our club. The trigger got smoother and the confidence rose. The LP10 trigger out of the box is a big problem for many and it has to be adjusted. I am told that it is best done by an expert. All the high level shooters I know here who use the LP10 had their trigger readjusted.

We are 5 shooters in our club in France to have experienced and abandoned the LP10 (3 opting for Morinis and 2 for Hämmerli AP40s).
The shooters who score regularly more than 90% in our club use: 1 Morini mechanical, 3 Morini Electronic, 3 Steyr LP10s, 1 Pardini K12, 1 Pardini K10, 1 Steyr LP2, 1 Walther LP300XT & 1 Hämmerli AP40. So, you understand that the LP10 is far from being the unanimous favourite weapon of our club members.
I am proud to say that we are the 41st ranked club in AP shooting (N°1 in 3rd division) in France out of about 140 participating clubs. Three years back we were ranked 125th and this year we will break through in the 2nd division, between the 21st and 40th position to be more precise, if we have all our best elements in place .

Hey even I fiddled with my trigger which as y'all know was a jerk; i.e. it jerked and got more pronounced as the match progressed. So I lightened it further (by turning all the screws ) and now it feels OK. Lemme check out on real targets and in reat-time scenario. WIll revert after I viist the range next. BTW for my P34 Feinwerkbau I have the same printed instruction - "DO NOT TOUCH THIS SCREW. IT'S FACTORY SET". Hence with "this" screw I touched ALL the screws. Think the trigger is closer to 500gm now.

In my experimentation, seems I have gone from 2-pull trigger into a single-pull !!! So how do I get my first pull back ? Tried the trigger weight with a half kg peanut pack inside a plastic back tied with a shoe-lace so as to slip comfortably on the trigger shoe. Seems OK - but the first pull is gone. The sear break does introduce the "surprise" element though. Did not try at the range, may be in next 2-3 days. Meanwhile, think I should get back to my experiments just to see if I get the 2-stage trigger operational again ?

you must have fiddled with the 1st stage take up length screw and minimised it to zero. So the 1st stage pull has merged with the 2nd stage. Find out that screw from the instruction manual and loosen it / unscrew it / turn anticlockwise to increase the travel. Then you will get back the 1st pull.

While mostly events trigger a poem, TOPS @IFG is one place where trigger events a poem! Y'all agree ?

Most men delight with a single screw,

* A footnote before the pundits jump in :-
Kama Sutra here means WORK PROTOCOL/ PROCESS. In this case, taking the grip & cylinder apart, checking for empty chamber, using correct screw driver, Allen keys, 500 gm peanuts pack etc. etc. - AGN What did you think ? Think as much about shooting and you shall shoot well.
