which airgun for india?

im travelling to the US and im planning to import a kickass air rifle for my farm use.

criteria-
accurate,powerful,DURABle for indian climate,easy to maintain and Multi-Shot.

ive narrowed down to the TALON SS by AirForce.

Other members would guide you on what to buy or not to. Please just don't try to take your air rifle and book it onto your flight yourself. Let the dealer you buy it from check it onto your flight - they would charge you a fee of $ 25 or so and that would be money well spent, especially if you fly out from the Northeast, California or other parts of the US like Chicago where gun laws are somewhat restrictive.

Letting your dealer check it in would be the best thing you could do.

Also make sure that the pwoer limits are within the permissible ones for India or the whole exercise would be doomed.

A springer would be easy to maintain and repair. But a pneumatic would be fine if you have access to silicone oil. Problem with a multi-pump is you get bored of pumping at times. Try a Benajamin Sheridian AS392 or a 397. The 392 is a .22 and the 7 is a .177.

BB guns are highly avoidable as the accuracy and power is low end. Laser are sighting systems, most blowbacks are air soft pistols they shoot 6mm plastic bbs. These normally qualify as toys so you shouldn't have a problem at customs. But they won't get pests and stuff for you.

Avoid multi-shots as they are difficult to maintain, my friend has a BSA whose magzine went out of alignment and became a single shot.

Get what looks like an air rifle to the customs guys, normally a springer like a HW or a RWS. Keep power levels to 650 feet per second in .22 and around 700fps in .177. Those are the legit power level for airguns in England...I assume or limits might be similar.

Basically don't go for cheaper plastic ones as they need more care. You can learn to repair them with a little patience but on hindsight nothing like a HW 77 in .22. Great wood and metal fabulous power and will last long enough to be handed down to the next generation.

That should be 600 ft./sec. in .22 cal. and 800 ft./sec. in .177" cal. (both MV's being apprximate) with medium-light to medium weight pellets.

Increase the pellet weight for the same muzzle velocities mentioned above and you will need a FAC.

Dealers would definitely check the gun in to your airline. They make money doing that, so why not? It might be a good idea to go to a family owned gun store instead of a chain - the service would be better even if it costs a little more. Also, inform your airline that you plan on carrying a gun back. They may have their own regulations.

Florida is a gun friendly state and you should have no problems buying the air rifle there at all.
