Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
I shot the same bhayank score. So that's it for this year. Maybe I can melt the metal of the lp 10 and make jewelry out of it.

The metal will make for very bad jewelry though. I am sure you will do good next year. Next year will be my turn to join the bandwagon...dev wrote:I shot the same bhayank score. So that's it for this year. Maybe I can melt the metal of the lp 10 and make jewelry out of it.

Brihaji,
The lake in the bacground is Kaas Lake 21 kms from Satara City. You cross the Valley of Flowers on the way to it. It has now been declared a World Heritage site. The lake is filled through underground natural springs, which seeps in through the hollows and cavitys within the volcanic rock of the neighbouring terrain.
Brihaji, I extend a special invitation to you and all others who contribute regularly on TOPS, to come and visit me, stay with me and discuss other things besides shooting
Best Regards

Hello Guruji,

The mystery of existence:
In the mystery of existence contradictions meet
where movement is not all movement,
and stillness is not all stillness.
Where the idea and form
the within and without are united,
where infinite become finite
yet not losing its infinity.
I have spent my days stringing
and unstringing my instrument,
while the song I came to sing remains unsung.
Man is immortal
therefore he dies endlessly,
for life is a creative idea
it can only find itself in changing forms!
> Happy Diwali

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
hey hvj
the description of the lake is really enchanting. but that is not the only reason for which i must visit Satara. i need you to once look at all aspects of my shooting including grip, trigger shoe position, stance, shoulder position etc and iron them out the kinks. furthermore please have a look at my post and offer some answers to my experience. i am trying to analyse the experience myself and feel that i probably over did the holds the ni prior and before the shoot thus tiring the shoulder leading to the anomalous behavior. pl advice

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
Dear Jitu,
Take heart, all is not lost.
I applaud you for the following;
1. Completing the match, having fired 20 sighters, 12 dry fires, 40 cancellations and still 10 minutes to go. THAT IS FANTASTIC, my friend.
2. You stuck to your SOA, with the exception of your trigger timing, other wise everything was working well.
I think, you may have slept awkwardly during the night and or strained your shoulder. Believe me, in my entire shooting career, the first shot, did take some effort. BUT, I licked the problem by doing a lot of dry shots , just before I took the first shot. AND, I practised a LOT of visualisation exercises, before the match.
Please read the part on mental training for matches. I ASSURE you , the problem is minor and can be licked with some effort on your part. Dont lose any sleep on it, we will sort it out.
Best Regards

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
hey hvj
thx for the encouragement. i can understand the strain on the shoulder but why was the finger not listening to my brain. or was that also due to the strained shoulder. i have taken a two day break for DIwali and will restart prac after that. i am given to understand that the state scores qualification of GVM stands for two yrs. is that so? then i can start diligent prac knowing that i will start level one next year not from level zero. i need to improve my physical fitness though which did take a beating after the states due to office commitments. am planning to concentrate a bit on that after Diwali. let me use the diwali to re-launch my AP effort and with guidance from the gurujan i am sure i will succeed

Jitu and Dev,
Please do Trigger Box Drills, i.e. trigger should break while focussing on SP. At least 60/70 times each day. The more the better.

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
Dear jitu,
Guruji has said it all. I will just request you to read this again and again to feel what is there between these words 'THAT IS FANTASTIC, my friend'.
Never ever let this pace go off. You have acquired a fantastic pace of the execution of the SOA. The programming of the sub conscious has to be done now through box drills so as to make these elements fit in accurately in the running machine. I will try to explain myself.
Just recall the scene from the film 'Modern Times' of Charlie Chaplin where he is continuously tightening the screws/nuts on a chain production conveyer belt which is moving at a fixed pace in front of him. Imagine yourself in that situation. You have set the pace of the conveyer belt. Your actions are to be programmed (read each and every step of your SOA) in such a way that you will never miss a nut/bolt during a certain duration of time (the string of the shot cycles; 4 shot cycles or 5 shot cycles as per your convenience). If you go wrong you will have to either abandon it definitely or run after it and come back to find yourself in a huge chaos. In a nutshell the whole rhythm will be lost. The machine has to be stopped and started again.
I hope that you will understand what I mean to say. Do box drills as prescribed by Guruji and drill the elements literally in your head. There is nothing to get disheartened. You are on good track. All you need is good quality dedicated work.
Best regards

ok hvj and tir. your posts do give me a hope that i can and i will. now for more box drills on trigger op. will read hvjs post daily to ensure it sinks in. to day being balipratipada ( supposed to be one of the 3 and half muhurtas) i have restarted the prac. there were no problems in todays shoot. after a few sighters was able to hold the 9 ring. now will concentrate on the box drill and no counting.
so heres to a lot of hard work and enjoyment
