Thank you! However, I'm out of town right now, and it is a good time to be away. I am sure that all my food in the refrigerator will be spoiled, since my electricity was some of the first to fail. They are saying that wind gusts have hit 97 mph. A school building has collapsed and an old shopping center has burned down. The barrier island of Seaside Heights is under water, because the sea has breached the dunes. The eye of the hurricane hit shore about 40 miles south of my town, and about 10 miles north of Atlantic City. Others are nearer to New York City, so I will let them report on the situation further north.

It is really going to be a mess tomorrow, and sometime during e day, it is supposed to let up a little.

Thanks guys. It is goog to hear that Navi and family are OK. im looking forward to hearing his story. My concerns are pretty selfish. The wonderful Padma Bushan Alarmel Valli is coming to North Brunswick on Sunday the 4th to dance Bharatanatyam, and I'm flying in to see her. Naga, if you have missed any food, just head back on Sunday!

Now, as people start to come out of shelters to look over their damage, a number of large fires has broken ou, no doubt caused by leaking gas mains. Just last week, I was on the shore at Seaside Heights, helping my friend at a photoshoot of his 1970 Mercury Cougar convertible for a magazine article. The amusement park we were at is no gone, the roller coaster and water slide a tumble-down jumble of junk in the ocean. In fact, my town, Toms River, has been featured prominently on The Weather Channel because of the damage incurred there. I have no idea what I may find when I go home, but I'm so thankful I wasn't there when Sandy came through. I have been through two of these kinds of events on the Gulf Coast, and they are not any fun at all.

Thanks for best wishes folks we made it fine it was edgy but were spared the flooding and power outage.
Tim - your place had it worst hopefully your belongings are fine. But folks around here underestimated the impact and city and region is trying to get its act back together. Subways are down, Gas stations have long queues, traffic gridlock no power with temperatures falling and now they are finding info on folks who lost their lives. ,

But its NJ tims area and beach communities around queens /Connecticut next to sea shore which bore the brunt ..

Best

It's so good to have you check in and know that you are OK, Navi! One friend in Point Pleasant had his house flood and lot three cars. But, as he pointed out, everyone was safe and healthy, and that is the important thing. You know my place is in Toms River, and that was very near ground zero for the storm. It is a real mess. I have tried to call a number of people in NJ, and it i seems the cell phone network is very congested. Over the last few days, I have only succeeded in completing three calls to NJ.

I have no idea what has happened to my apartment, other than, like everyone else, I have no power. If the windows held up, "all izz well," as Aamir says. I don't know about my car, either. I don't think that there was big flooding, because old farm boy that I am, I was taught to live on high ground. Still this doesn't mean the car isn't in a "small" puddle a foot or two deep. The apartment is on the second floor, so flooding won't be an issue there.

Take care, Navi, again it is good to hear you are OK. Maybe we will have to meet up in Edison sometime and watch a movie!
