Re: MY Handguns...
Hi Timmy, thanks for all the appreciation. The hi standard is a later model B and made like a ROCK. There is no rattle in the slide and the pistol shoots straight thanks to the wonderful rifling.timmy wrote:Those are wonderful handguns, TC. High Standard was -- well, a very high standard 22 pistol and one which did win many trophies. The new ones are quite expensive, but I have not handled one. I wonder if they come close to the old classics like yours in quality and accuracy.
The Colt Officer's Model is a beauty! Those are very near to my heart, as yours could be the daughter of mine. Mine was made in 1920 and has a front sight somewhat different from yours. Where yours has a ramp-type base, the base on my front sight is a simple rectangular block that holds the pivot pin, adjustment, and set screws.
The biggest pity about a Colt Officer's Model is that so few will ever know the sheer pleasure of shooting one. They are truly a lovely piece of art, and they combine the silky-smoothness and luxury of a precision-made watch.
Beautiful guns, thanks for sharing.
My Colt Officers Model Match was directly imported by its first owner ( I am the second one ) sometime in the mid 1960s. The action is excellent as you said, the back sight is elevation and windage adjustable. The front is fixed.
But what I love most is the trigger ... in both double and single action...
Well if mine is your daughter then I consider yours my son ... You are right Timmy... few will ever have the pleasure of shooting one... We are lucky
Cheers

Hi old friend.... Thanks for the kind words... means a lot when they come from a veteran. Keep your Buckmark under lock and key... I have been hunting for one for almost 20 years in India.. haven't come across a single piece yet.ngrewal wrote:TC
