i wish you the best, that you bring out the best of your abilities for each and every shot! Fight for every shot, prepare it mentally and execute accordingly. The judges will do the rest, the counting part, I mean .

Make sure that you shoot the venue dy or two before the match. I suspect that not doing this was the reason for my bad performance .

Good Luck Jitu, don't forget the fluids (Electral or equivalent) . Oct heat must have caught on in Delhi. Mumbai afternoons are unbearable. Stick to the basics. If you get there a day or so early, get all formalities done then itself (Weapon Control, shoe check, confirming the detail, endorsing the competitor card etc.) - that way you don't end up running the day of match. Ideally if possible then sit out an entire match just to see how you fare in that environment (with glasses if you wear them) - with match conditions that 'heat' is bound to be felt more. But then sticking to the basics ought to see you through.

Oye so is Balewadi - I sweated like a pig and the glasses kept fogging and blinding me after every shot as they hadn't turned on the ac or any fan for the first detail that fateful morning. I went absolutely off rhythm. So Veer Savarkar's mantra - "Prepare for the worst and hope for the best."

Faltered terribly in the Haryana state championship. Could score only 325/400. Used a different pistol from the one which I had practiced in my club. Its trigger was slightly mischievous and after the first pull, whenever I was trying to settle in the aiming area, the shot would go off. And this resulted in paying more attention to the trigger pull rather than front sight.

But, I have taken it on a positive note and started afresh for the next year. Hopefully, I will do much better next time.

Hello major,

You have just built the first pillar of succes . Take out the positive things from the match. Most importantly, the things not and never to do again. A new pistol (an unknown person) takes time to get adapted to. The second thing is the trigger adjustment. Keep a sensibly heavy 2nd stage weight (say around 200g) to have enough confidence to start the pull already before settling in the aim area. For the rest, as you said, you have a year's time to set your home in order.

here i am . laut ke buddhu ghar ko aye. i wish i had read your advices earlier. to cut the long story short i bungled badly.
1. reached a day earlier but the veh broke down on the jaipur delhi highway. radiator fan stopped working. when the dvr opened the bonnet he accidentally touched the coolant pipe and there i was like a kungfu panda right in front of the spray. danced around with scalded shoulder and faced in kotputli mkt. lot of cold water helped me to recover. so when i finally did reach and found the only lane alloted to raj pistol shooters it was extremely late. then had the wonderful experience of the range master giving the final call to cease fire when i was lifting the ap for my first shot. so shot one and the monitor went blank and i had nt the foggiest idea where that shot landed. huge rush for wpn control and was told to come the next day.
2. day two.reached early after failing in my attempts to sleep peacefully. two hours of standing to get the wpn control done in the most chaotic environment. then hunted out our manager who told me that i would be firing at 1400. so had some water went to the range and relaxed watching the previous detail shoot. breathing slowly returning the normal. then comes another guy from the state association who tells me i am firing on day three. the manager is untraceable. finally trace him. he confirms day three. pack up and leave for the hotel to catch up on the nights sleep. i am just reaching the hotel when i get a desperate call from him to tell me 'vaaapis' you are shooting now . rush back. get the detail edorsed on the shooter card. just in time for my detail. try my best to get the adrenaline down and the hertbeat under control.
3. the prac shots go here and there as the heart is heaving and end up hitting 6s and 8s. go and sit down. first time at electronic range. the familiar feeling of seeing the card closeby and understanding the point of impact is absent. some how the monitor is unable to create in me the same feeling. start my match. first hot 9.second 8. third oh no a six. the heart races and then the whole shoot collapses right before my eyes. i take reapeated breaks cancel shots. go and sit down but nothing works. best part is when i fire the 40th and feel there must only be 2-3 min left i am shocked to know that there are 35 min still left. incredibly having done all my comic breaks and all i have finished 40 shots in just 40 min including the sighter shots.
4. score 86,84,88,87. 345. i am aghast that is 15 points down from my state performance.
5. pack up and come to the hotel. really dont know how and what i did .
so gurujan please tell what i should do to prac for this electronic sys type of shooting. how do i prepare for this on a manual tgt in prac. urgent work reqd. gvm is just round the corner. atleast i will know what it is to shoot at that range now.
