Ok, In spite of reading a lot of threads / posts, I am still remain confused on imported guy procurement part and a few other stuff. Hence this post.
1. By becoming a member of NRAI alone, will I be able to buy an imported air rifle? or do I need to be signing up with local rifle club?
2. I would like to start with a very decent gun (have ESA) for practice at home. Unfortunately I am unable to get new ones (imported) anywhere (not even in Buy/Sell). Do you guys know of any in Chennai?
3. I really want to pursue this sport seriously so any suggestions / steps would be really cool. I am 41 and is passionate about the sport
4. The club membership always remain closed / or requires recommendation and a huge 'fee' running to 1 or 2 lacs. Not sure how long do i need to wait for it to open up
Any suggestions or jump start will be really appreciated!!!
Thanks
/Prabu

Sandeep you can PM me your details, I am an NRAI member and can help you.
Scorpio,
your questions have been already answered to some extent before. But anyway:
1. You can import an air rifle/air pistol of .177 cal & pellets if you are a Rifle association member of District,State or National. You dont have to be a member of more than one, one is sufficient since most or all are affiliated to NRAI I think.
2. Cant help you there.
3. Just read up on the forum, there is a huge wealth of info that is not easily available anywhere else.
4.Dont know which club you are refering to, but NRAI membership may take about 4 months since they have a membership induction meeting every 4 months or so. Others can correct me if i am wrong on this, in any case it should not be more than 6 months at the worst. I got mine in about 3 months. Life membership cost was about Rs.23000 and needed 2 signatures from current members.
PM me if you need help with a signature.
Anand

Thanks Anand. Sorry life kept me busy and hence didnt visit this forum.
I am referring to Chennai Rifle Club. They want me to visit them during a week day. Will try them out sometime this week. Over the phone, they always say, the membership is closed. The guy who sold me the AirGun said, he would help me get the membership for 5 lacs
Can I import an Air Rifle with NRAI membership?
Thanks
