...he want to kill muslim's because of Facial hair and pagadi of sikh's he confused and he made that mistake...
This pretty much identifies the intelligence level of this wing nut, doesn't it?

Perhaps not where you live, but where I live, racism is as American as apple pie, very prevalent. I don't think XL needs to apologize at all, because I do agree that this problem is widespread in the USA. As far as XL's part of the country, I believe that, of all places in the USA, much of Minnesota is one of the most accepting areas when it comes to all kinds of people.

I understand that the Southern Poverty Law Center, a group that has long battled racism, segregation, and ethnic hate, had a larger dossier on the killer than the FBI did. But then again, there are so many of these kooks running about, there's no way any law organization could keep an eye on them all.

Your not-too-subtle insult is noted, sir.

Go ahead and add smugness to your insulting platitudes, Steve. It certainly adds luster to your point.

No doubt the act was done by a twisted mind, but what is surprising that non of the people present were armed to defend themselves. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness!

"To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic."- Ted Nugent

Satwant Singh Kaleka, the president of Gurdwara of Wisconsin in Oak Creek, who was killed in Sunday morning shoot-out in the Gurdwara was the brother-in-law of Punjab Cabinet Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra.

Even as the identities of those killed is yet to be official declared by the US government or the police, the shocking fact has been confirmed by the family.

Satwant Singh Kaleka hailed from village Kaleka situated near Patran in the district of Patiala. Rakhras and especially Darshan Singh Dhaliwal, a brother of Rakhra, had played a great role in establishment of the Gurdwara, it has been learnt.

The family has suffered a blow even as it was preparing for a grand-ceremony in connection with the marriage of the niece of the minister.

It may be recalled that Rakhra’s niece, a daughter of his brother Darshan Singh Dhaliwal is getting married in the 2nd week of August.

The wedding was planned so lavishly that Rakhra had specially invited around 100 people from Punjab. Those invited included Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and a number of Rakhra’s cabinet colleagues, fellow MLAs and MPs.

Cheers to all members,
One thing which have been ignored is that President of Gurdwara did confront and injured the shooter with small kirpan which allowed the many devotees to escape and shooter rushed outside otherwise many people would have been killed .Although president lost his life.As some socalled liberalsikhs are discarding the arms which are sacred to sikhs as Guru Gobind Singh ji gave a command no sikh would show his face without bearing Tegh or fullsized sword. Now a days I was told by a kirpan shop owner that DC has ordered to sell blunt Kirpans which is againist the religious rights of sikhs this is in Patiala why we allow this kind of arbitray people to make unconstitutional orders it is up to us.Even I was stopped by sevadars not to carry gun inthe Gurdwara and keep it outside but I flatly refused.

Kirpans, talwars, swords etc. might have been modern weapons of the day centuries ago. They are no match for today's weapons of the day i.e. guns. People need to keep pace with the times.

Unfortunately sometimes Indians have tendency to stick with outdated weapons. For example during 1857, when the East India Company was capturing the country with help of guns, Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar was still day dreaming of fighting with swords. His following couplet illustrates the point -

Ghazion mén bu rahegi jab talak iman ki; Takht-e-London tak chalegi tégh Hindustan ki

As long as there remains the scent of faith in the hearts of our Ghazis, so long shall the Talwar of Hindustan flash before the throne of London

This is really sad tragedy and doesnt reflect too well on xenophobia being swept across all nations and bigotry coming to fore be it this shooting in Wisconsin or tragedy in Assam. I am impressed that the Sikh leaders on TV ( CNN atleast) wanted to stress that even though it might have been case of mistaken identity but there is no sense in targeting innocent Muslims or any minority in US for that matter - thats against the spirit of this nation. I was jogging today chatting with some one loudly about this episode and two folks nearby came over simply stated we are with you took me a while to understand the context. I agree with Xl folks here are really nice at heart open moinded except for few nuts. I mean how ridiculous are these neo nazis - they have simply forgotten the sacrifices and prices paid by the previous three generations fighting Nazis and Fascists..those brave souls who died in WWI and II must be turning in their graves seeing these stupid progenies parading around with Nazi flags --this is how short and distorted is memory of some folks here and their paranoia against any one different.

What was confounding that very few famous Sikhs or Punjabis came forward on TV I was expecting atleast Nikki Hailey to step upto the plate Nada -- I was surprised to see Deepak Chopra come up...Main heros are two young kids 9 and 10 who raised the alarm inside when they saw this crazy guys shooting outside gave some time to folks to hide/escape, then the two police officers who engaged the killer Lt Murphy waived off medics and asked them to assist others, second officer who injured the killer and the deceased president who died trying to scuffle with the killer. Kalke the president is brother in law of Mr Dhaliwal who owns one of the largest chain of gas stations in that part of the country..People forget one of the first Asian Congressman during Kennedy's tenure was Duleep Singh Saund a berkley graduate..recently Sgt Tanque died in Iraq.

I read a great comment People forget even Jesus wore a turban or was a towel head!!

Friends
As I read the news, I wonder,What convoluted thinking leads to such a boil that the only way it be can vented, is through a grafitti in innocent blood? And it certainly is not limited to America, Scotland and England. Our very own country, the home of Sikh Religion has witnessed the same kind of ignorant and blind hatred, when Sikhs were singled out during the 1984 riots.
To this day I remember, in Mumbai, I was crossing the road to catch a bus, when i saw a group of maniacs, stop a taxi driven by a senior sikh driver. They pulled the man as old as their father by his beard, ripped away his turban and pounded his head and face onto the taxi bonnet. Leaving him in a heap, they then smashed the taxi, probably the only source of his own honest livelihood.
I was scared dumb and moved to the fallen figure only after the crowd had retreated down the road, yelling and ranting and trying to target any other helpless member of the Sikh community.
Cradling the old man's head, he joined both his palms to me and entreated that I should not hit him. I broke down too and held him close to me. Shortly many more people came from all other communities and we helped the old man into a taxi driven by a muslim. I do not know what happened to him as the taxi whisked him away.
There in that crowd were people of all communities, all felt shock and some shook their heads at the futility of it all.
As i walked back home, these images stayed with me all my life, to be reminded whenever I see such futile acts.
I have to thank my parents and especially my Army background which has instilled a respect for all religions. It is regretfull that the US Army could not instill similar feelings in Mr. Page.
