Crossbow shooting association - Ghaziabad

Post by bhaskar » Mon Aug 06, 2012 6:24 pm

Hi friends,

This is a recent development in ghaziabad city, I read this news on Sunday in very small Colum of Hindi newspaper. Well now the city is gearing up for Crossbow shooting.

CROSSBOW SHOOTING ASSOCIATION OF INDIA is headed by Mr. Anil Kaushik. I spoke with him today, seems to be a nice guy. The training sessions are daily 5:30 in evening, they have a small range in pratap vihar gzb. He has some crossbows and crossbow pistols for training. You can also purchase one after becoming a member. Annual fee is INR 5100/-

As per him they are preparing for world championship to be held at Sweden.

I am planning to visit his range and meet him this week..

+1

the prices of those crossbows should not go above 80k max...
the only plus point i see is you join this association.. it could make things easier for you if you intend to import a crossbow
I believe in second chances… it’s called reloading

I dont believe there is any restriction on comercial import of archery equipment like there is on Air Rifles.

I for myself have imported archery equipment without any hassle/trouble from authorities. One only needs to find a good online retailer who offers competitive shipping rates and thats about it.

I met him yesterday evening.. Although he didn't said anything about license .. but said it’s not available for public, and only accessible to people registered with archery and crossbow association or clubs.

He has 1 crossbow (rifle style) and other is pistol crossbow. Pistol crossbow was of “cobra” and available for 10K. The other Crossbow was almost similar to cheetah model of Gsmith, with 150 lbs draw weight, available for 40K.
However a cheetah crossbow with DW 180 lbs is available at Gsmith pune for 28k (enquired today).

All other variants shown on his website can be order by him once you are the member of the club.

Well I was only interested in shooting these to stuff, so we headed to the so called range.. actually a park. An archery target was pasted on a 4” thick thermacoal sheet. Well the shot from bigger crossbow actually went through from a distance of 10mt (approx), and experienced a little recoil effect. Pistol crossbow shot was not that impressive.

He said he is planning for a complete indoor range by end of this month. He is also planning to host a national crossbow shooting competition in December this year. :o

Gsmith pune has the pistol crossbow too for 5500/- ...try telling him that and he replies in his 'shakespearean' english ..that cobra at 5500/- is a cheap chinese one and at 10,000/- it is a of very high quality !

Guys if u want to have a good laugh try mailing him and see how he replies ..i couldn't stop laughing ..now i don't mean to demean a person 's abilities but when we are born in India and live here we could switch to the local languages if we don't find it convenient to converse in a foreign language like English.
