i was just curious??

Post by kenhypno » Fri Mar 09, 2012 6:22 pm

Which pellets should i firstly for .22 cal air rifle (indian), flat head ,domed, pointed, double pointed, diabolo, a rounded lead ball , hollowpoint, wadcutter ?
please tell me as i recently procured a secondhand air rifle (dont know the brand it has an elephant type monogram)classic ??
secondly hitting a square piece of metal or a 5rupee coin at a distance of 29 feef or 8.5 meters with a flathead or pointed head pellet is it considered good or juat about average! since it is my first time i fired a gun ! i am grouping shots in a 5 inch radius or a cd taped to a plywood board! :? in just about average light conditions (indoors)??
and is penetration or range that i should be looking in pellets ??

this is an additional pic of the cross section of the pellets !

Ken - 28 feet at with a 2nd hand air rifle depends on the quality of the springer. Typically Indian Air Rifle has high recoil with low FPS. Hence I would suggest you to try Flat heads at the given distance as its little less than 10 Mtr range.

Also with a Open sight you might get a diffused grouping due to the trigger pull and forward recoil.

More than penetration and range. Look at your grouping for the start.

So then should i go for double headed thery are testing fine by me the dome headed ones just whizz in and past birds just a few feathers fall out and bird flies off! double headed is a kill shot ,but then heavier and compromises on range but not like tripple headed ones that start dipping at 27 feet unable to hit target of a pack of visiting cards!Should i go for pointed ones??

please note that hunting is banned in India, and shooting at birds therefor is against the law of the land and will get you in lot of deep waters.

there is a list that give the protected birds, and as for rats , they are like gods in a city of bikiner in rajastan. so i am told if you see a white rat then you are indeed blessed :)
