First air pistol?

Hey everyone.
i'm planning to get my first air pistol soon and i need your help and expertise in making my decision.
I have narrowed down my choices to these two pistols after a lot of research- Zoraki HP 01 (Webley Alecto) and the Baikal IZH 46M.
Please guide me to make a proper choice.
Do recommend other pistols too if you feel they would be better.

Dear Kunal,
Before investing money to buy an AP, please ask yourself why do you want to buy it. Do you want to go for competitions? Is it for fun shooting/plinking? or is it just to have the pleasure of owning an AP?
After answering these questions, you have to reply to one fundamental question. How much I am ready to pay for what I want?
High end APs are very expensive (for me at least) and needs a wise decision before buying. Steyr happens to be one of them. Please be aware that the Steyr LP10 (the dream of everyone courtesy successful marketing), just like the other high end APs (Feinwerkbau, Walther, Morini, Pardini, Hammerli etc), will not shoot good shots and score big for you until and unless you know how to shoot a good shot.
All these APs are execllent with their pros and cons.
The Baikal Izzy is an excellent AP too. It will far outshoot our abilities. The best thing (if possible) is to shoot with the APs, take them in hand, feel them before deciding to buy. But in reality..

If you want to compete, if you are having an opportunity to buy an Izzy and if you are not influenced by the looks and the trends, go for it. You will score enough points to be proud of yourself. However, compare the prices of different AP offers in India. Buy the one according to your budget which can be easily serviced /repaired in India.

Unluckily, i do not have any idea about the Zoraki HP 01 (Webley Alecto).

I forgot to mention that there is also an Indian made PCP made by IHP which seems to be pretty good. Anyway, it should be very good value for money. You can have a look at the IHP internet site.

Kunal, I do not think that it is meant for competitions. The Baikal Izzy can not be compared to the Zoraki. You need to ask yourself the questions I had mentioned.

tirpassion, thank you for your reply, i should have given more detail as to my reasons for the gun. Actually, my reasons are duofold- i need to get it to start to shoot,ie to be trained for target shooting and eventually to compete... my budget would be in the range of about 30,000 rupees for the gun itself at the most. As any prudent person, i would want to get a good deal at the lowest amount possible...heh. As i mentioned before, i have little knowledge about Steyr and i'll have to do some research now. Another thing i forgot to mention earlier is that i would procure the gun from a foreign country as they would be too expensive in India. would i be correct? The reason i mentioned these pistols is that they are both pump charged pneumatics and would be cheaper and easier for me to start with rather than a cylinder filled gun right? i'm quite biased toward the izzy, i don't care much for looks as the performance would be of priority and i have heard nothing but praise for this pistol. The zoraki should be cheaper to buy than the izzy but it is a multi pump pneumatic and i think it may affect consistent performance as compared to a single stroke pistol. I would talk to a gun dealer nearby to ask them if servicing either would be possible or not. i did not take it into consideration earlier. Thanks for enlightening me. Ihp? i did read some review somewhere and the owner did not say many good things about it. Would you think it's worth it? you are right Tirpassion, i feel the same way, the izzy is a no nonsense performer without the bells and whistles.

shooter_1, i did see the website for Steyr. The pistols are priced way beyond my budget.

I'm just starting out with airguns and it is not within my financial reach to purchase any of their products currently.
They look great though, maybe someday when i have the skill to do justice to them...

I totally agree with tirpassion on all aspects. The Izzy would be the one to go with. Don't worry about servicing it and stuff. It is made to last.......simple and straight as that. One word of caution though. The grip of the Izzy is for larger hands. That's the reason I let it go. Make sure that you order after market grips is you have smaller hands. All the best.

Thank you Prabhath, i'm inclined to buy the izzy as well. I don't think the grip would be an issue for me , i have large hands. How did you find the gun? a small review perhaps?

To be honest with you Kunal, I had planned myself to buy an IHP PCP pistol. Our ifg friend prasen123 owns one and he is pretty happy with it. He gave me his views also on PM. The price is nice also under 14K all taxes inclusive. It has been designed by a genious and hence it should not work badly.
No foreign made PCP will be in the budget of 30K, which you have fixed. But, go for the Izzy eyes closed, if you can get it within your budget.

Oh, alright Tirpassion. I actually found out on pyramydair, i could get the izzy delivered for about 32,000. Seems like a good deal. I'll still check out the IHP. Though isn't it better for a beginner to go for a single stroke rather than a pcp?

It does not matter much if it is a pneumatic or a PCP for a beginner. Be sure about your steps for import. There are threads on ifg explaining the import procedures. Go through them thoroughly and get yourself aptly equipped not to face any hassles in case of import.
I may recall that you need to be a member of a shooting club for hassle free import of airguns.

Owned the Izzy for sometime but had to give it away on account of the grips. Too big for me. The Izzy will anyday outshoot you. Comes with a sight adjustment tool, extra seals and washers etc. Will last you a life time. Trigger is adjustable and very light and crisp. I have now booked a Steyr LP10 but practicing with a friend's Izzy. The grip still bothers me and fatigue sets in after about 50 shots on account of the weight and cocking effort..........else an awesome ap.
