@all - sorry for not responding earlier. But brihji's put in pretty much what is required for information dissemination. I did not respond since I didn't want to reveal more than what should be kept under wraps for the time being. For Mumbaikars - a prototype is for use at Savarkar Smarak Range, Dadar.
I have had the honor of being among the first with brihji to try out all the prototypes on both the AP and AR targets and in .177 and in .22. So to reveal an open secret - I am in line.
Incidentally, I have also had the honor of witnessing history being made at its various stages, be it the barrel or the trigger or the stock (glass impregnated abrasion/ heat resistant polycarbonate) material - try "sanding" the "plastic" -> guaranteed to take your breath away!
The designer is fully concerned about quality. To cite an example -> During the very initial phase he handed me over a barrel and ask me to find flaw in it. So I ran the usual "checks" i.e. peered through the muzzle end then the breech end like a telescope; kept it on a flat window sill; then on the table and yet detected nothing. But the good designer had written REJECT on it with black perm marker. I gave up and he very patiently explained that someplace about 2/3rds the length there was a slight (tiniest) fluctuation in the inner diameter. "Normally" it would not matter much but what was to be made had to be of "match grade". Matter over !!!
The laser etching (make name, #s etc.) on the receiver itself speaks volumes about the passion that has gone into the manufacture. Again, I had the honor of being given the receiver in hand with "different" types of laser etches and asked - "What do you think?" After visual inspection and then shutting my eyes, I ran the pad of index finger over different "fonts" (so to speak) and zeroed on one. His answer - "My choice too. But even that has to be a little bit extra smooth - the laser can penetrate a few microns less". I knew - I had to wait to get a piece that shall give the *phoren* makes a run for their money. That's about quality - now a bit of info about the thought that's gone into the design. Imagine your springer can be simply converted into a nitro by a simple switch of action within the receiver - as simple as what one would do while changing the spring or piston seal. BTW, the fps had to be lowered even from the consistent 720-740 for .22 to bring it within the "realm" of permissible energy and required accuracy. But remember we are looking at a *match grade* item. If so, what should one expect ? Accuracy and consistency, right ?
So "shraddha saburi" is the key phrase. A few more weeks and you can find out for yourself.
@dev -> what can I say ? You scored #10.9
@tirpassion -> There is the prototype PCP and even the nitro/ ram jet - but the focus is to be on springers for now (read next 6-9 months). There has to be a growth in market share for the "expansion". No plans as yet for an exclusive PCP AP - but don't worry; I will keep up with the *follow-through* (request) on behalf of our relatively small AP community.
BTW he's instrumental in IHP's new PCP AP and AR. Saw a guy use it (AP) one place; pretty good. Except for the fixed cylinder, saw no other "requirement change". 2-3 guys on IFG own that piece too - there's being some positive feedback about it.
@brihji -> Planning to be back on Jul 5th or 6th. Do we RV the Sat of Jul 7th ?
