PICTURE HEAVY - Some Knives in my collection

Post by slingshot » Tue Jun 19, 2012 10:21 am

Sunday was well spent in polishing, sharpening some of my knives. They also got a good coat of Tuff Cloth affection in preparation for the Mumbai monsoon. So, I decided to take a few pictures of some of my knives. Some of these knives are work knives and some I havent put to any use. I believe that all knives are not just works of art...but also one of the oldest tools used by man. I am not a great photographer so you have to excuse the quality of the pictures. I hope you enjoy these pictures just as much as I enjoy working with my blades. Cheers...Slingshot

hahahah, this does not qualify for "some" knives Chief      , The Recon Tanto's my favourite amongst all your knives and I lovingly like to call her " The Devil's Concubine" It's so damn wicked.

The Uzbek knife deserves the spotlight here, if possible post the literature that came with it and a few closeups.

People not sure what the steel on this Uzbek blade is, but very similar to our Indian Faulad, the things sharp as a razor blade.... This is the real gem in Chief's Collection.

Moin, will definitely post on the Uzbek. The knife is called a Pichok. The Pichok is the general utility/traditional/ceremonial and magical blade of the Uzbecks...much like the Khukri is to the Gorkha. The blade is hand forged by master blade smith Ubaidullah Satarov. In Uzbekistan a pichok knife is not only a household stuff for everyday life or a part of the national dress. Since ancient times Central Asian peoples have believed that sharp objects have the power of a talisman, protecting their owners from misfortunes. So, a pichok knife is believed to be also an amulet. It is an indispensable part of many national rituals. There are a lot of legends about it. The image of a pichok knife can be often seen in embroideries, on ceramics, in architectural decorations. The popular belief says that a knife put under the pillow of a baby protects him/her from diseases and other troubles, whereas a knife given to a friend as a gift helps him to defeat enemies. The Uzbeks seem to have every reason to sincerely believe that a pichok knife is a magic object that helps its owner in great many ways.

Fixed Blades:
# 2 Becker Machax BK4
# 6 is a Becker BK7
# 7 is a KA BAR USMC
# 8 Recon Tanto
# 10 looks like a Cold Steel SRK or a Benchmade SRK probably the CS
# 11 must be the one Moin is referring to, it is an antique anyway or Persian origins.
# 13 is a Buck hunting knife
# 14 is a Muela
# 15 is a Becker BK2
# 20 Spyderco Caspian
# 22 is an Esee Izula

Folders / Multi Tools:
# 1 and 2 are probably Leatherman tools or one is a Victorinox
# 6,7,8,10 we all know Victorinox tools / knives
# 9 Looks like a CRKT
# 13 Benchmade Griptillian
# 14 Spyderco Sage Titanium
# 15 Looks like a Strider SNG or any other Strider collaboration.
# 17 is a SOG, looks like the Trident
# 18 Is that a Muela folder?
# 20 and 21 Boker folders
The one in the middle looks like some sort of a Sypderco Karambit

Whats the score let me know. I hope I did not mix up the numbers.

'The blade is hand forged by master blade smith Ubaidullah Satarov.'

Sincere apologies...the Blade is hand forged by the master blade smith Abdupatto Abdullaev. He deals with this craft for thirty years. His pichoqs are widely popular mostly of black-violet tints incrusted with red, green, blue and white small stones and with three stars and moon on the blade – the very old family brand of the Abdullayevs.
