Sharing some pics of my camp gun in 45-70. Useful around the camp when I am up north in bear country. Very handy compared to my go-to hunting rifle.
3 shots at 50 yards with open sights.
Here it is with my hunting rifle in .300 Win Mag.

I like it in stainless with a proper buttplate, Herb. The one I gave to my older son was not a camp gun, but an early M1895 with straight pull stock and crescent buttplate. My loads were 53 gr of 3031 under the 400 gr Speer. I found it wonderful to carry and very handy. But it wasn't so much fun to shoot with those heavy loads! Ideal for bear country.

Looks sweet,Herb.
That grouping is very nice too.
How does the recoil compare with the .300 WM? Thanks for sharing the photos.

Thanks Guy's.
Vikram- The recoil of the 45-70 is more and it louder too with the 18.5 inch barrel. But then it is also a lighter gun.

Nice looking gun herb! Have you considered putting a ghost ring sight on it?

Sweet looking lever action
herb,
One of my favorite rifles is the lever action - Yellow Boy, short, light, easy to carry. It is all mostly, because I am fan of the Wild West and nostalgia though!

very beautiful guns, I have never fired a lever action but I am sure it would be a blast. Really like the SS .300 Win mag rifle.
