Re: IOF 30-06 Rifle
Gentlemen,
Really sorry to hear about Katana's 30 '06. Let us know the outcome from IOF
I was planning to buy the rifle.
Well, as mentioned in the initial posts, is it necessary to have a special license for 30 '06 rifle or NBP Rifle license on which you can buy .315 will be ok to buy 30 '06 on it.
Cheers....

Re: IOF 30-06 Rifle
You do not need any different license. A license that says NBP rifle will do since 30-06 is NPB.

Re: IOF 30-06 Rifle
I will say this again, the IOF 30-06 is more accurate than most of the imported rifles available in the country that cost 3 to10 times as much.

Absolutely agree with you, winnie. Moreover, I'm treating my problem as an opportunity to learn the dynamics of the gun and also to improve it further.
Although I have notified IOF about this I somehow do not expect any assistance. What is heartening to me is that quite a few members here have offered me their advise.

30-06 rifles are made in Isahpore.Trichurapali factory makes the .315 rifle.Lots of idiots are willing to pay more for the Trichurapali made .315.The Ishapore one is much better. At least it has a proper barrel unlike the twig on the Trichurapali one.carbine wrote:what is difference between 30-06 rifle manufactured by rifle factory of tiruchirapalli and rifle factory of ISHAPORE ,which make better rifle

Extractor breakage problem sorted out finally! Took this long because of my pre occupation with work. An elderly gunsmith made a new one for me in one day flat! These oldies sure know their way.
Will update with details later.

Re: IOF 30-06 Rifle
I have no views on OFT making the 30-06 rifle.I have so far not seen any 30-06 rifle made by this factory.I have seen the .315 rifle made by them and if the RFI made .315 is bad,the one made by OFT is trash.People, somehow, are willing to pay more for the OFT .315. Just proves the old adage, 'A fool and his money are soon parted'.bishnoi29 wrote:now check that both factories mention that they made .30-06 !!

Hi wtp,
With the dismal conditions of iof weapons, is there any discernible difference at all between the products of various factories?

Re: IOF 30-06 Rifle
Safarigent,
The OFT made .315 has a twig for a barrel. The cut in the receiver for ejecting spent casings is missing. The receiver is not properly machined to feed .315 cartridges ( it is still set up for the 303 cartridge) in either the OFT or RFI made rifles. So they do not feed from the left. The way the follower is set up in the OFT rifle,I would expect jamming to be an issue.
However the OFT rifle is painted better than the RFI one and so the premium by dealers that the gullible are willing to pay.
