Please read this http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php ... 06#p158130 If there is a notification by Government under Section 4 of Arms Act 1959, asking for licenses for non firearms in your area, then you would need license, else regardless of length/size etc. you do not need license. Therefore to know if there exists a notification for you area under Section 4 of Arms Act 1959 is more important than assuming the 9" regulation as perceived by some people.

Dear Ms.Apechka; Please ask your boss to mark the consignment as Handicrafts and crate it with the local courier company or Speed Post or else local couriers will not accept.

I would say to stop the discussion till you get your 'handicrafts'. Many people go through forums and we are not giving out good "keywords" to Google. :stupid:

Mine have reached Kolkotta since the last two months but no courier company is willing to accept so stuck in Kolkotta. Yes the notorious Ms.Apechka, & Ms. Maya Das from DTDC i think.

Sent you a PM.

Hello Moin,
I think there will not be any problem with Speed Post.

Knives from Khukuri House Nepal

Post by Bruno22 » Sun Apr 22, 2012 7:07 pm

Have them crated and labeled as agricultural tools. Once crated no problem. Ask the courier to have it sent via 'Surface' which may take a while but will get to you within 5-8 days.
So close yet so far...I know how you feel.

Will a Khukhri be classified as an Agricultural Tool(irrespective of it's dimensions)? :?

Nonetheless, a smart solution Brunoji. :)

I bought one from them but here in US - relative friend mule courier is another way provided its legal to do so -- thing in Nepal is to find some one who makes these items - ask these guys they have workshop in Nepal maybe its easier to pick one their or get it shipped from Nepal via regular mail - again Khukhri should be handicraft but read the rules

Thanks ak,Marthandan,Bruno and ngrewal. Have tried all kinds of advises Speedposts, agricultural tools, handicrafts etc etc(ref: my emails above) and followups. This series of email follow ups is driving me nuts. Surpisingly 5 large Khuks ( 4 belonging to Slingshot and 1 mine) all more than 10-12 inches cleared customs and landed in Kolkotta, getting them to Mumbai is proving to be a challenge since the last two months. At their mercy now, the owner of KKHI has apparently left for Nepal leaving the khuks with his contact in DTDC.

And to add to the pain, the DTDC staff attending the phonecalls( DTDC office number) speak only in Bengali, understand neither Hindi or English... :(
