Not very much into folders but the RSK is a little masterpiece. Looks like it will fit perfectly in the hand.. Expensive though.
The Entrek was one of my choices but I just couldn't throw down the money
I am not into folders, usually because of a slightly irrational mistrust of the locking mechanisms. The folders that come close are Frame-Locks or Ti-Locks and most that are any good are outside my price range. Or so I thought until the Scamp came to me. The Frame-Lock is also the only lock type that bolsters the blade against lateral forces. The argument is that if a blade is going to take that kind of stress, you might as well buy a fixed blade. You mention that you sell of what you don't like. Let me know what you want to get rid of and I might pick up something if can afford it (Hope this doesn't break any forum rules). And even stuff you use can still be a part of a collection. My definition is if you have more blades that you absolutely need at any given time, you collect! Most collect for novelty value but there are enough collectors who actually have some objectivity to their collections. I am hoping to be one of them.
choombak wrote:I have no collection, all users - so I end up selling most that I get. With the sate of affairs here, the only way to feel a blade is to purchase it, which is why I end up getting a large number of blades. My "collection" is only the blades that I "use" - a Doug Ritter mini RSK MK1 (a la BM mini Grip with better steel and design), Spyderco Spin, Spyderco Etch, and a Spyderco Ladybug. In the fixed series, I recently acquired two lovely blades, so here is some eye candy...Raghavachari wrote:Ah Choombak,
One of the most extensive collections on this forum you have
...
(a) LionTribe Designs RingMaster (W2 tool steel, ~8", relic finish). Mike from Lion Tribe specializes in making "primitive/tribal" blades. Very beefy and hefty. The sheath is two-tone leather, with a kydex insert for vertical carry.
(b) Entrek Companion, around ~8.5", 440C, micarta scales, very ergonomic grip. Comes with a poor quality kydex sheath.
