I own the above mentioned rifle from the 1950s, and its still so good that I cant let go of it! However I was planning to fix a Riflescope to the gun but there are no provisions on the gun to do so. What method should I follow? I came across the 'clamp on mounts' system which I can avail when fixing, but I am not sure that it wont interfere with the bolt mechanism; and using this method, I can install the scope only to the side which I dont want at all. Please direct me to something useful!
I was planning to import a Leupold scope from the states through courier, are there any complications in doing it?

Thats one of my favorite rifle a gun I learnt firing on - classic. I wouldnt put any scope on it because that might involve drilling in the barrel so one needs competent gun smith with proper tools. Some things are better left as is - rather you can purchase IOF rifles 3006 and modify it to hearts content. This BSA leave it in original pristine condition like a classic its meant to be .

I agree, why spoil the old beauty.
If you want scope then go for IOF, or sell it and buy some other which has scope base built in.

i would agree with everyone, why change it? by drilling etc
check to see the clearance of the clamp on mount, if it is a high mount then should have clearance for the bolt. ask the person/ shop who is selling it.
Leupold scope, i like em, but for .22? probably cost as much as the rifle (in the usa that is)

if you say it can not be done, then you are right, for you, it can not be done.

I agree with ngrewal,sa_ali and nagarifle , i think mounting a Leupold scope on .22 is not a good idea. Here in Canada and US you can buy two Ruger 10/22 rifles with the same price.
Other thing you don't need a high teck scope for .22, get a Bushnell or Tasco 3 x 9 x 40 that's all you need but still it's your money and you can buy anything you want.
