Nope I own a used Feinwerkbau P34 PCP AP with Morini grip. I have since filed/ sanded that grip and then applied a medical gauze tape on the upper side to get good setting in the web. Earlier someone had left a ridge that would pinch into my "Vee" (of the web between the thumb and the index) hurting after a 90 minute ordeal. It has a slight problem with "finer" tuning but I am not yet at the level when it would matter. A couple of national-level shooters there use Steyr LP10 (never asked if I could touch theirs) and one junior has the one with electronic trigger. Think he recently crossed 340/ 400 after a year of its use.

dev, an experience with the e-trigger at Sawarkar Smarak. Once the battery cell went off - the pistol is lying dead and unused. Now only two users used that and neither wants to spend/ share INR 3K to buy a new cell. Thankfully, Vishwajit didn't allow me to 'touch' it. :-)

Very strange  , I have the mechanical one (ball bearing) and have now got used to it. But the Morini's electronic one feels nicer or felt nicer at one time. I am beginning to understand that one can work with any pistol, cause it is the work we put in and not the pistol. Look at Jitu blazing away with his Soviet gal. :D

hey dev
my present scores are hardly blazing. but i am sure that with gurujis advice and my hardwork i will improve. but the best part is the process is so enjoyable. yesterday during prac i took 5 shots in a row and hit 4 tens and a 9 close to the 10 ring. absolutely felt like dancing. however the excitement must have got to me , the next few went haywire.but the feeling was exquisite. i can understand how one would feel if one starts hitting real high scores in a comp. no personal exp yet but i am sure one must be feeling great

Hi Dev, I also go through the same experience once in a while. Shoot few perfect tens in a row and the rest of the day goes for a toss. When I tried to analyse what exactly happened I came up with few interesting findings. Whenever I shoot few good shots due to good technique I become greedy and want all my following shots to be perfect and in that process I become overly conscious, sometime so much so that the trigger pull seems like 5 metric tons and invariably my group opens up. I guess this is where mental training and good technique makes the difference.

Dear Jitu and Gypsy
yesterday during prac i took 5 shots in a row and hit 4 tens and a 9 close to the 10 ring. absolutely felt like dancing. however the excitement must have got to me , the next few went haywire.but the feeling was exquisite.
Please recall the MULE and the MONK story of Guruji. The mule worked for you while the monk kept the balance. Then you got carried away by the monk and the mule could not go on his own. :D

Now, to let the MULE work properly:

Please work out our 'Sequence of Action', SOA, write it down (do not elaborate much) and follow it meticulously, point by point forcing yourself to do so in the beginning with self commands. With time, the whole process will get ingrained in your subconscious mind. During the sessions, DO NOT PAY HEED TO SCORES. Concentrate on each action. Use the box drill to help yourself achieve the goal.

Once you get your SOA fixed perfectly and master it, you will discover suddenly that the trigger is SO SMOOTH... You will hardly abort shots.

In shooting sport, I believe that one needs some maturity to feel. Mere reading or knowing does not help. I am happy that you talked about that 'exquisite feeling'. Very good work Jitu! You are gaining in maturity and hence the work will be easier from now on. Yes, you should always be looking for that 'Exquisite Feeling'.

Enjoy the feeling!

yo tirpassion
you are absolutely right. usually the mule is supposed to be mule headed, in mycase the monk seems to be more so. but i guess i need to practice much more to get into a smooth SOA. bythe way as advised by hvj i tired a back to back shoot on friday and sat. fri 40 shots SA% 90% and sat 60 shots SA 80%. last four sets on sat were not up to the mark. i guess the shoulder needs more strengthening. more fig 8s. while carrying out these sets one thing i could make out was whenver i consciously commanded my actions in the SOA, i could perform better.need to become more conscious while performing the SOA

Guruji,

Since 2 weeks the 50m free pistol 'Bhoot' is riding high on me. I am giving a light preference on the Hämmerli FP60 only because my AP is also a Hammerli, the AP40. The sights are the same, the adjustments are identical too. This helps me to get the same SA image on the FP as on the AP, unlike on the Toz35 where I am finding a lot of difficulty to see the clear SA.

What do you think Sir? Should I apply the same techniques of AP on the FP or is it different?

best regards

Guruji still treats me as 'Titpassion'. So if there is any wrong guidance  , you know who to blame :D

Thanks for your reply Sir. I am honoured and will do my best.

Jitu, you should always train for 60 shots because the AP event for men is of 60 shots even if in India we do it of 40 in the preliminary stages. During training session you can do 40 shots because of time constraints. Why time constraints during training session?
Taking possesion of the lane/ setting up the equipments - 10 minutes, Warm-up - about 15 minutes minimum, Figure '8's 40 to 60 holds - 30 to 45 minutes, live shooting - ??? 40 or 60 if you can manage. You should not forget a couple of breaks (2 to 5 minutes) in between. Stretching at the end of the session. So a lot of time is needed...

What is important is the SA drill. You should be able to achieve 100% in 60 holds. Once you achieve 100% you can come down to 40 for regular checks. Regular checks are necessary because a technique is never acquired for good. Clearing the barrier of 100% is NECESSARY for the mental part of training. But it does not mean that one has acquired the skill definitely. It has to be checked and rechecked from time to time.

So, to sum up, you should go for 60 figure '8's, 60 SA holds but you can do with 40 live shots. Since, the figure '8's and the SA hold can be done at home (after obviously a warm-up session), you can do just 40 figure '8's or 40 SA holds box drill before going for the live shots at the range. For the SA hold (10 seconds), I strongly suggest that you do it DRY. Your full concentration should be on the SA image for 10 seconds. If you do live shooting at the same time, the quality of SA work will not be up to the standard.

Keep going mate!

best regards
