Import of Air Revolver - Customs not clearing

I have imported a SMITH & WESSON Air Revolver as seen here:

This gun is stuck in Delhi Customs since first week of November 2011 initially because of the High Court order and now due to the stand taken by these guys that air revolver is not permitted to be imported.

The courier company is FedEx and the clearing agents are Jeena & Co.

I have supplied the manual, which clearly mentions that this is an air gun, still the custom people are saying that this is a revolver and it can not be cleared as the notification clearly mentions air guns and air pistols.

I have tried my best to convey that this is an air gun, but even people of Jeena & Co are not getting the message.

Please suggest a way forward. I am thinking of filing a RTI application. Does anybody have a similar experience?

Thats crazy......well in the notification its mentioned Air guns of .177 Cal and S&W 586 is an Air gun.....

better file and RTI...............to get clarification ...

the custom guys just need some reason however bizarre just to refuse you!

However by now you must have warehouse charges of 15K for 3 months.

Its going to be tricky situation when they release the shipment your penalty would be more than the Air Revolver

Hi!,

FedEx want me to send someone to try to convince the customs people that this is an air gun and is thus allowed to be imported. Can someone from Delhi help me out with this?

Dear Mahesh,

Its clearly mentioned on the box, the gun, and on the invoice that its a 4,5mm .177 cal air pistol. I hope you hold a valid rifle club membership, and have your ID card at place. Or else there is no way to get your gun released. If not FedEx, google up for a pvt clearing house agent in Delhi, and speak to him. They should help you.
