Re: Import of Air Guns banned in India...!!
can someone post the "notification" that clearly states .177 calibre air rifles are restricted. Customs seem to read rules the way they wish to. I'll be paying 4 times the guns worth, if, I finally get it out one day.

Hi,
Pls find attached,the two documents:
1. DGFT Notification No. 12/2005 dated 04/07/2005 (for details on Import Exemption).
2. Notification No. 21/2008 – Customs dated 01/03/2008,Serial No. 582 (for details on Exemption of Import Duty).

Nazeef Thanks !
I have already shown that note to "customs" and they wont release it. Get permission from the concerned authorities - who are the concerned authorities. The Police refuse to comment or even look into the matter. They say there's a new government notification about to come out ?? Must I find a good lawyer and go to court .. and the cost of the air gun becomes so expensive that I abandon it ... exhausted dealing with customs. There's some court case going on and after the results come out "we" will all know where we stand.
If anyone hears any further news - please let us know.
Regards to All !

Is the next hearing today or 04/01/2012? If the Supreme Court website is referred then the next date of listing is given as 04/01/2012. There are three petitioners and all the three cases are connected together and given a common date. May refer this http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php ... 02#p153802

You are right, it is a bit confusing... 3 different cases are linked to each other where the Respondent is the same 'People for Animals'...goodboy_mentor wrote:Is the next hearing today or 04/01/2012? PC 20773-20775/2011 (Union of India Vs. People for Animals)
PC 19880-19882/2011 (M/s AIRGUN,RIFL.PIST.& PELLET MF.ASN Vs. People for Animals)
Whereby, the date of hearing of the third Case is Today...
It is even being highlighted on Indianshooting.com's homepage...

Re: Import of Air Guns banned in India...!!
Just got a call from Dushyant (FedEx), he suggested that since the shipments are getting cleared through the cargo mode, he can shift the package there and I need to appoint a clearing agent who can get it cleared from the customs...
Now does anyone know of any such clearing agency which can do the needful...?

This is the starting of new problems if your shipment is transfer in cargo mode you have to show your recently travelling aboard documents to release the shipment and beside this anther so and so charges and custom duty and extras

Hi, as it is... we are already in deep 'problem'... now, as to what i beleive, it all comes down to the way you deal with the Cargo personnel and the amount you pay to get your package released... just need to make sure that we don't end up paying unreasonable amount... that's the call one needs to make...riahmoso wrote:This is the starting of new problems if your shipment is transfer in cargo mode you have to show your recently travelling aboard documents to release the shipment and beside this anther so and so charges and custom duty and extras

Re: Import of Air Guns banned in India...!!
Mumbai imports stopped ! The Dy Commissioner Customs has sent the Dy Commissioner of Police a detailed letter on 29-11-2011 asking them for clarification and to henceforth issue a N.O.C for air guns/pistols/starter pistols/toy guns etc. It goes on to say " free import for .177 does not mean shooters associated to the NRAI and Gun Club members can bring in guns without a arms license" They are putting pressure on the Police to make a call.Till then "all" import at Mumbai is stopped via cargo or hand baggage route.
Who do we go to for help ? Everyone seems to be passing the buck on.

Re: Import of Air Guns banned in India...!!
Hello everybody,
I am a NRI living in France. I will travel to India on 11/01/12 and arrive at the Kolkata airport. I am planning to bring my Air Pistol to keep in constant touch with the training. Do you think that I should carry on or should I abandon my idea? I am also a member of a Shooting club in India. I did the same 2 years back without problem but I understand that the things have changed now.
Please advise.
best regards
