Does national make pneumatic air pistol (not PCP or CO2)

Post by gverma » Thu Mar 11, 2010 12:07 am

Hi
Is anyone aware if National creates pneumatic air pistol (I know they make 10 m pneumatic air rifles) and they also make Co2 and pre charged pneumatic air pistols....

The reason for this question is I wanna explore the option of remaining simple...the whoe filling the cylender idea may not work out practically... and the fact that pneumatic air rifle which is self sufficient is rathe lucrative to me...

Thanks
Regards

No, National do not have a Single Stroke Pneumatic 10mtr air pistol in their product range. Its not like filling cylinder etc. is a big chore. All target shooters do it, pistol and rifle...they do it from a HPA tank at the range.

I am with you on your take on a self contained powerplant system, unfortunately thats not how the manufacturers see it.

The compressed air pistol is quite a good deal and it performs well too....we can sort you out on that one....

Hello Gverma
I would sincerely advise you to change your mindset regarding PCP, a pneumatic pistol has its plus points as you are aware, however, the velocity of pneumatic pistols is lower than a compressed air pistol. So how does this make a difference?
The magnitude of difference is a bit larger for a novice shooter, who does not fully understand or has not fully mastered the aspect of 'follow through'. When the shooter HEARS the shot, the pellet is just emerging from the barrel. This holds true for all air pistols, the difference in velocities in the pneumatic (slower) and the compressed air (quicker) necessitates the shooter to be a master in folow through, diametrically opposite is the reaction of the novice, who switches of mentally when he hears the shot, as a result, his 'arc of movement' suddenly becomes larger. It is precisely here that a higher velocity gun is slightly more forgiving than the slower velocity gun, because the pellet emerges out of the barrel just as the arc of movement is increasing, unlike the pnematic, where the pellet leaves the barrel when the arc of movement has widened even further.
This makes a big difference to the shot placement on the target. A bad shot from the pneumatic, in the hands of a novice can be a 'flyer' (in the white), whereas with the compressed air the same shot could still hit the 7th ring (outer circumference of the black).
So forget convenience and think of long term performance and all technical aspects that lead to it.

Hi hvj1
This was a great piece of info. I didnt know any of this.

Now that I have found with my resserch te ability to charge a PCP gun. The PCP gun is also on my wish list as adviced by you.

I do intend to collect a bunch of guns though use PCP for practice.... and if possible if I travel purchase some nice imported guns with more bells and whisles....
