Raptor pellets
Raptor pellets
Tried the new Raptor pellets ( new because they surfaced in Dubai markets quite recently ) from Walther and Gamo.
These 5.1 grain pointed, .177 calibre pellets are very accurate and significantly improve the down range of CO2 pistols. Tried them in my 8 shot COLT 1911 Government Automatic. They grouped well at 10 yards, and cleanly downed a feral pigeon at about 8 yards.
Not recommended for . 177 break barrel or any type of springer Air RIfles although. The piston slam will increase and might damage the rifle.

I am afraid you are setting a very poor example here.
Shooting a bird such as a pigeon with a pistol that produces approximately 2.5 ft.lbs. is just not done. You were lucky to have brained it but the chances of wounding it were far greater.
Use the appropriate tool for the job. You of all people should know that.
Mack The Knife
I am always a firm believer of overgunning rather than undergunning. It gives a more humane kill. If any PH recommends a .223 for Roe Deer, I choose the .243 to kill it. For larger deer I always use the 30-06 with my standard 180 grain S & B or Win Silvertips.
Here in this case the Marketing Manager of Umarex Pistols, Germany wanted to see what happens. This was purely an experimental shot.
This gentleman also tweaked this COLT 1911 a bit last weak with a few performance parts. It shoots in excess of 350 fps now. Al Sayads mechanic and shop were used for the experiments with new parts for the COLT.
A total of 11 feral pigeons were bagged today. The other 10 with the HW 80.
All were slaughtered the halal way. I had three for dinner, the other 7 were taken by the Umarex, Al Sayad team. Perhaps a feast is on at their hotel room. The boys are in a nightclub right now, will ask them aabout the Pigeon curry tommorrow.

Re: Raptor pellets
A 5.1 grain pellet at 350 ft./sec. has a muzzle energy of 1.38 ft. lbs..
At 400 ft./sec., the same pellet will have a muzzle energy of 1.81 ft. lbs..
Let me have the name of this particular marketing manager from Umarex (Germany).

Link for muzzle energy and velocity calculator could be redundant.

Mack The Knife was concerned about the Humane kill. We Muslims are always concious of that. This is the reason why always Zabah act is performed in every hunt. Have taught it to the Zulus as well. They hold the Springbook all ready and neck stretched for me to slaughter it with a hunting knife. There is a scientific reason. Stangant blood contains harmful toxins. When slaughtered all the blood flows out before the animal / bird dies.
